I am shopping for a Jeep right now. If you drive around to the back lot of most dealers, there are ALWAYS some nice looking Cherokees (lots of XJ's & ZJ mostly) sitting in the Cfc lots. I have seen several that I would have been willing to pay the 3500 or 4500 to get my hands on..... just makes me sick. I believe it also raised the price on the low end of the used car market, by making fewer of these cars available. Sad to see the end of so many Jeeps around here. The only issue it has is the AC trouble I posted questions on last week. This is apparently a "known" issue, with the blend doors, after some Internet searching. I am still thinking about buying this Jeep. I did the A/C self diagnoses yesterday and it showed both blend doors out of spec as well as the recirc door. There is a work around on the blend doors so that the dash doesn't have to come out, but not for the recirc door. So that is why I hesitate on this Jeep. Like I said tho.... otherwise it is a VERY nice truck at an okay price, so it is still in consideration. On the other hand, the prices on the later XJ's are very attractive, but the WJ's are so nice. I have not, and most likely will not, looked at the ZJ's. I just don't care for the body on them.... have not looked inside one. So ideally what I am searching for right now is a WJ (Limited or well appointed Laredo) with Leather, Sunroof, 4x4, V8. This configuration is not easy to find around here. Most are 6cyl and/or 2wd. Maybe someday I'll pick up an XJ just to have fun with, but I have my Scout for that right now. I plan on getting some quotes today for the A/C repair, so that I can decide if I want this particular Jeep or not. There are a lot out there, but getting the combo just right is the trick. My wife thinks it is funny how narrow my search is, I just know exactly what I am looking for..... Thanks to this list, otherwise I would probably already be the proud (be it ignorant) owner of a 42RE. I know many thousands of them work fine and always will, however I just don't want to mess with what I know to be a major repair like a transmission if I don't have too. Besides like I said I loved the way the V8 felt in the small SUV anyway.
