Just came from my cabin (busy with surveyor and sorting out parts to bring back) have to tow D-in-law's jeep here tomorrow after dropping wife at work and hopefully the frame will be straight enough by 4 that she can drive it to dinner. Then wife and I will be at her friends for dinner and Friday I will be playing musical cars at the cabin so I can bring the '67 GMC stepside home to part out. Couldn't get a tire swapped today for my trailer. Did you know tire shops will NOT put tires on over 10 years old now due to some law? (I can see on cars but a utility trailer?) _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141665/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Nov 2009 21:32:14 -0800 From: Jim Blair Subject: xj: RE: fsj: RE: how did this spark plug get damaged? Wow. that's some messed up sparkplug. Does the piston move in the cylinder at all? It looks like the piston rod separated from the crankshaft and was slammed into the sparkplug. I saw this happen on a hi performance boat engine. One of the piston rods sheared the rod bolts and at high RPMs threw the piston and rod into the head and onto the sparkplug! You should see the piston rod I have of another failure...Hydrolock caused the rod to bend and twist! What a mess...the engine ran, but made one heck of a noise!
