I loved his description of the interior fit and finish... and how he struggled to say something positive... can't remember what the positive statement was... and I love the episode where they have a PryUs going flat out on the track, followed by a BMW (M3?)... and the BMW got better fuel economy... not only that, I'm also spoiled by Jeeps... that rav4 was working hard to haul it's on tin around, it would have been cruel and unusual punishment to even think about towing with that thing... with a Jeep you could connect a small freight train and all it would do is slow you down a bit... and of course it wouldn't impact your fuel economy, because there is none... considering america doesn't get the Diesels... but then again, Jeeps are built, not bought... ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Tue, 28 Jun 2011, Jim Blair wrote: # What a guy! I just destroyed a Continental tire on my Jetta... well, not me, but a simple rubber tie down strap... hit a rubber tie down on the road, the metal hook went right through the main thread of the tire and then wrapped itself around and then embedded the other hook in the tire also... sidewall split during the failure... I was a block from home... wobbled it up SR9 and down my drive... http://fotomeister.us/2011/06-Jun-30-flat-tire-Jettas-J10/JM7_9556_2011-06-30.jpg http://fotomeister.us/2011/06-Jun-30-flat-tire-Jettas-J10/ALL.html my other jetta has BFG Traction T/As... I don't have that many miles on the Continentals... trying to decide if I should buy one, or try to trade in the remaining three... they aren't the best tires I've ever had, have trouble getting traction on wet roads now that I have the 11mm pump in my jetta wagon... even in 2nd gear at 25 mph over 1/2 throttle and the tires will break loose... lots of grunt, light car... what to do... buy one... or buy a new set... or look for a set of used on CL. any recommendations on tires for a jetta? thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #3299 *************************
