Well, if you're talking about Regular, here in Northern VA, it's around $3.60. My local Shell has it at $3.55/gal. But a grocery store (Giant foods) offers 10cents off per gallon for every $100 you spend at the grocery store at Shell, and if you use your Shell card and at least 45 gallons per month, you get an additional 5% off...so we usually pay 30-40 cents below advertised price! I have a small 4k Diesel Generator... :) I love my Diesels... I ran out of fuel with my 80 Olds Diesel once on the Hewitt Avenue (US2) trestle heading into Everett... during rush hour... if you don't know what the trestle is, or was, because they tore that one down and built one a little better... it's a two mile long bridge over the delta of the snohomish river with an island that floods in the middle... Just as I got on it I detected that horrible feeling of a Diesel starving... immediately cut power and coasted... lucky for me I was right before the ramp that drops down to the frontage road on Ebey Island, I didn't brake, I just rolled... and rolled... (from 55 mph and then down the ramp) I made it almost all the way across the island and started up the other ramp... I knew I was in trouble because every drop of extra Diesel fuel from the cans in the trunk had been put into my tractor... you see, I was on a fuel run... just cut it too close on the main transport... and now I'm off on the island, below all the traffic, no one can see me down there... there are people living on Ebey Island, and folks might be driving by so it's not like I was going to die down there or anything, except by embarrassment..., so I shuffled through all the cans, nothing... not even a drop... finally... I found a half a quart of motor oil in one of the fender wells... ok... might work, it's just thick Diesel, right? :) Poured it in, the 5.7L Diesel started, I didn't even wait to see if it would stay running, I dropped it in gear and up the ramp, made the merge into rush hour traffic, moved to the slow lane and feathered it across the Snohomish River bridge, down the ramp and over to the texaco station where I often bought my Diesel... filled it all the way up... I suppose I didn't need to worry, even with that Olds I could have gone at least another mile... :) try that with your stinking gas engine... yeah, you, here's half a quart of motor oil... oh yeah, for the next test let's lock ourselves in a garage with our engines running for a while... you first... :) I'll show you why a Diesel is better... :) you know, I thought this was on the diesel-benz list... ooops... oh well, still a fun story... enjoy... :) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -o|||||o- fahrvergnugen y'all Snohomish, Washington - where Jeeps and VWs don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 TRSTGZS http://JohnMeister.com HTTP://WAGONEERS.COM http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Mon, 6 Feb 2012, Ed Kummel wrote: # Well, if you're talking about Regular, here in Northern VA, it's around $3.60. # My local Shell has it at $3.55/gal.
