------------------------------Crank position sensor test...
With engine off, A+B should equal 200 +/- 75 ohms with hot engine. also when measuring voltage, volts should spike when engine is cranked or is running. If no reading, CPS is bad. Oops, disconnect sensor when doing ohm test... ------------------------------how to replace CPS
The crank position sensor on the 4.0L sits on the bellhousing of the transmission on the driver's side. The connector attaches to the wiring harness at the back of the valve cover, intake manifold side. I found the best way of removing it is from underneath. I used a stubby 3/8" ratchet with two 9" wobbly extensions and one 6" wobbly with an 11 mm 6-point socket, normal height, attached. Unfortunately, I did not do the above test BEFORE I did the replacement. ------------------------------ Neutral Safety Switch Bypass Instructions: In the relay/fuse box under the hood, there is a starter relay with 5 pins. 3 smaller and 2 bigger pins. After pulling the relay out of the socket, insert the 2 ends of a small jumper wire into the 2 larger slots of the relay socket. That puts juice to the starter, even if the key switch is off. Of course the key must be in the on position for the engine to start.
