From: diesel john I've found several wiring diagrams... but NONE show the fuel gauge I have... every one shows THREE connections to the fuel gauge. Mine has two. This site has a lot of nice pictures: http://home.roadrunner.com/~john.strenk/Gauge%20web%20page/QuickFacts.htm my fuel gauge has an S and an I. Same as the temp gauge. in reading this page: http://www.luanjp.com/images/Mod/Electrical/CJSpeedometerGaugeQuickTest.htm it's apparent that power should go to I. There were three wires connected to my cluster before. These sort of make sense... a pink went to the S terminal on the fuel gauge, from the sending unit. a purple/white went to the S on the temp gauge, from the sending unit. a red/white(?) went to the I terminal on either gauge, will connect to the I on the temp gauge... which are connected by a black wire. The new cluster matched the diagrams I've found, but the internal lighting was so dim I couldn't see the gauges at night, so I'm going back to the original without the little blue shields. I don't have power on that red/white wire, need to trace it back to see if a fusible link went or if a fuse blew, or something came loose... as simple as this thing is the wiring seems to be quite a rats nest. sure wish I knew what year this cluster and gauge setup came from... :) my cluster looks like this, sort of: http://home.roadrunner.com/~john.strenk/Gauge%20web%20page/QuickFacts/90Speedo2.jpg it has the 4wd by the brake and the brake by the emergency drive, reads only 37000 miles and doesn't say unleaded. ;) like the bottom row in this picture: http://home.roadrunner.com/~john.strenk/Gauge%20web%20page/QuickFacts/SpeedosCompare.jpg reading more on: http://www.jeeptech.com/electrical/gauges/ found: "The Jumper/Regulator Strap is composed of two strips of metal that continuously make and break contact, regulating the output to the Temp gauge to 5 volts. A volt meter applied to the A terminal on the Temp gauge should fluctuate (plus and minus) near 5 volts. A reading of 12 volts on the temperature side indicates a bad Jumper/Regulator Strap. 12 volts applied to the temperature gauge's A terminal will cook the gauge. So, the red/white will go to "I" on the fuel gauge, this should match what I pulled out and if 12v is on this wire it should all work... john ----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us ------------------------------------------------------------------------
