I think I'd rather save my money and get Old Blue some new shoes come spring. I was just concerned about the size and weight for the little wag... running 235's on it. Have the 215's on Old Blue... they both look silly... one of Old Blue's tires fell off the roof of the little wagoneer at 60 mph... man do tires bounce... had to wade into one of the farmer's fields to retrieve it... no damage to any passin' cars or the little wagoneer... how in the heck that thing come off the roof remains a mystery, wind??? I was on level highway, going straight... ???? the buick isn't dead cause of fuel but cause of spark... $108.07 my cost for the new module... the master cylinder for Old Blue at Schuck's is $38.36... might wait and get all the stuff at NAPA or the dealer... Well, gonna go get some parts to fix the Buick so I can wait on doing Old Blue's brakes until I can scare up all the parts. He's gonna need new front hoses, brake lines and calipers rebuilt... Hey, ANYBODY KNOW OF GOOD BRAKE linings/pads? The crap I got from Schucks doesn't do much to slow him down... I'm so fed up with mechanics that do a half-(way) job... I'm still steamin' over the front driveshaft on the little wag, the thing has 160,000 miles on it and the mech found the driveshaft coupling was loose by the xfr case, so he lubes it, tightens it and reinstalls it... fer cryin' out loud, now it's loose again, could frag my tranny and underside... arghhhhh.... yeah, he saved me $30 in parts... the lazy, shortcut takin' half-wit.... And then we could talk about the other shortcut takin' half-wrench who was supposed to flush Old Blue's brake lines and check everything out... the brake fluid looks like an espresso... The purpose of HR3752 is to RESTORE Congress's Constitutional role in the making of rules & regulations governing lands belonging to the United States, as GUARANTEED in the Constitution, Article IV, section 3. * Currently United Nations land designations,( UNESCO Biosphere Reserves & World Heritage Sites) take place WITHOUT the approval of Congress. * Over 68% of OUR National Parks, Preserves, & Monuments are designated as a United Nations World Heritage Site , Biosphere Reserve or both. * The U.S. has 20 World Heritage Sites, 18 of which are National Parks, including the STATUE OF LIBERTY and INDEPENDENCE HALL. * The U.S. has 2 sites on the list of World Heritage in Danger, Yellowstone National Park & the Everglades National Park. * The U.S. now has 47 "Biosphere Reserves" which contain a total area larger than the size of the State of Colorado, our 8th largest state. What this means is 67 International Designations already exist in the United States, all designated without the consent of Congress or the American people. Nina Sibal, the director of UNESCO has stated: " The way in which the United States choses to relate to our Man & Biosphere program or to the subject of the World Heritage is a sovereign decision of the AMERICAN PEOPLE & the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT". Well, it would appear the executive branch of our government,(the white house) has been doing all the thinking for us. Thank you Mr.Clinton. When HR3572 came up for a vote this past summer, The Clinton Administration threatened to VETO & issued a letter stating so. The results of the vote: In favor of HR3572, there were 33 Democrats, 213 Republicans = 246 Against HR3572, there were 162 Democrats, 15 Republicans= 178 Hmmm, kinda funny how the majority of the DEMOCRATS in the House voted against the bill. This is why we ALL need to be involved, if we don't tell these assholes what we expect from them, than they are not the voice of the people. Remember, it was the people that put them here in the first place, to work for us, not them. If you'd like to know how your "elected" congressmen voted, e mail me & I'll shoot you the results. Better yet , write your Congressman & ask him or her how they voted & why!!! JUST DO IT! Bob Jennings Granite State 4 Wheelers --------------6589151815B--[Back to Top]

After a quick trip to NAPA (where else?) I found some very hefty toggle switches and some 30 amp relays. First we ran the new wiring harness for the plow, had to cut a 5/8" dia hole in firewall for the cable and grommet. Geeez, not much room under there? Kinda hard to find a spot to drill, and I don't have AC.! We then ran a #10 wire to a 30 amp fuse and then inside the cab. Inside it hooks to a small distribution box where I can tap off it for a couple lighting circuits. Again, not a lot of room to go through the firewall, had to go next to heater box on pass side. This line is direct from battery. Tomorrow we'll run a second #10 for future use. Still need to wire up the rotating becon for the top. Everything we did is wire-tied very well and often. But.... While my head was under the dash I noticed the wiring is a nighmare! Did the factory do it this way or was it the yo-yo I bought it from? No rhyme or reason to any of it. I fail to see a easy way to correct it. Big wads of wire below glove compartment another near the steering column. I hope tomorrow we find one of the "wads" from the stereo, that would be easy to correct. If Mr. Murphy stays away, we'll be ready for tons-o-snow after tomorrow. As for Clubs...such as an off line Big Jeep Club... United Four Wheel Drive has a book about starting clubs...that would probably be the best guideline to go by. Club Dues are only there to offset the cost of newsletters, Stickers, trail permits, etc. One doesn't start a 4x4 club to make a buck. Sometimes a club trail run will cost extra money, but that should only be for camping permits (or hotel if you are that sort) and sometimes a few meals (Big barbecue makes any 4x4 trip complete). As for the book I'm thinking more along the lines of a neatly printed glossy paperback similar to a NASCAR or concert program. Possibly this could be the program for the 40th at Ouray. Or it could be printed shortly thereafter...and I imagine that additional copies can be sent via regular mail to those who cannot attend. That would probably be substantially cheaper than doing stuff through a publisher. There are enough folks on the list with enough knowledge to fill a book such as this with all sorts of cool stuff. A big pictoral of a frame up, some extreme wheeling, some sightseeing wheeling, some history, etc. Last thing I was thinking was money...Something that I never seem to have enough of. Money buys parts including used parts. I prefer to trade parts...I given away some big parts (including my ill fated 304) and I've gotten some big parts... a grille, a bumper, most of an interior...all stuff that costs a lot at the yard...had money changed hands probably everybody would be poorer. Anyway I sorta fogot where I was going with this, but it's time to go home from work....Eastwood and the Duke call from my TV. Later Mark[Back to Top]

I had to sign off of the list from work due to a new Internet usage policy that frowns on many messages per day because it "affects the Firm's business use of the Internet". Oh well, it was likely to happen eventually. Anyway, let me know when the list is back up so I can subscribe from home. No new news on the front axle/disc brake project. As you may know, Mark and I tore the front D27, springs, master cylinder, and some of the brake lines out of Ole Bessy on Thanksgiving day. It all went really easy. The front D44 is almost complete; in the meantime I need to get to work sandblasting and painting the springs, bending new brake tubing, and fitting up the front-disc-compatible master cylinder and proportioning valve. I'm still hoping to have everything put back together around Christmas. Hey, John: I think those axle shims are supposed to serve some purpose! :=) On a related note, how do I get replacement spring pads for the worn out ones in my spring packs? Are they all pretty similar? Would any ole spring shop carry them? Also, did you say that you lubed your springs w/ synthetic grease? Lastly: I got new OEM spring bushings from Smiths. Should I lube them prior to installation? Ken: You said that you shortened the rod that sticks out from the OEM brake booster when you did your front disc conversion. How much did you shorten it and how did you do the shortening? Mark: The sandblaster works excelente. I tried it out BRIEFLY, then shook the sand out of my hair and ordered the hood from Eastwood. It should arrive nxt couple of days. I'll give you all another update soon.
