agreed. Just the Panascopic Vision of Old Blue and that
moonroof are enough to keep me motivated to wrench out the
gremlins and assorted insect life... the ultimate goal being
to get Old Blue to do 18 to 20 mpg IN TOWN... make him a
daily driver.

It's an engineering challenge requiring great perserverance,
ingenuity, skill, but mostly money, and time, neither of which
I have right now, so I'll drive the little wagoneer until
I can... get time and money that is... :)

Perhaps I should park Old Blue where I can SEE the highway,
that way I can sit in my FSJ like Frank does, and enjoy it
that way...

ya gotta love 'em...
  it's a Full-Size Jeep thing, I don't think you'd understand... :)

btw, we should emphasize the SJ part a bit more. Maybe so
something with the "superman" type colors and shape and create
an f Sj emblem that sorta looks like superman's logo...

just a half baked idea from a guy that can't draw a straight line
with a ruler... :)

sounds about right.

I got a quote of 750 for a 727. the 4spd od models are more
involved and 1,000 sounds reasonable. my project manager just
spent $2200 getting his 93 Chrysler minivan tranny rebuilt...
yep... $1,000 doesn't sound so bad, now does it... :)

I had a th350 built for my 67 back in 89 at wholesale prices
for $450, and that was with me carrying it in... in the jeep
would have been another 150 to 200...

The tranny in my 88 XJ wagoneer limited is:
Aisin Warner 30-40 LE 4-speed automatic

doug,

don't forget to spend a little time with that woman... I know
it'll be hard... after 22 years I think my wife is catching on
some... they don't understand it... they don't see things
the way we do... on the other hand, I really don't get what
they're after most of the time either... :)

anyways, let's hope the mushroom cloud isn't related to the
relationship if something goes wrong... :)

best wishes on getting it back together, hope & pray it all
goes together textbook perfect... the first time, with no
problems... it can happen...

Good post John,
BTW, they (Chevy dealer) also told me there was no break in period,
drive it off the showroom (for $37 to 47k) and drive it any way
you desire. Hmmm, sure is a long way from First 500 miles less than
60 mph, etc etc.

I've so far switched three of my vehicles to synthetic, two of my sons
have done likewise. I gotta add, I've sold several lifetime air filters,
everyone raved about them, it is a good product. imho filters and oil are
the most important part of any engine.

off the box,

Joe-

Cool idea, I like that, superman emblem for the big jeeps!

I'll see what my son can come up with where he works.
Matter of fact you should check out the place on the web, I -think-
it's http://www.freelancelettering.com

Cool site, they can do anything in vinyl. My son is a designer/
supervisor there.

hell, yeah!!! I'd been told by more than one model dealer that they were
non-existant! Are they still in kits, or completed?

yep, Joe, it's there... put it up a little while ago. Missed you guys
for the last week, haven't been near a phone line with time to check mail
much, just briefly checked the messages addressed specifically to me.
So... I'm running oh, 30 or so digests behind <grin>.

Got Franks's page (via John) up, the QT article, the other addaleaf
article, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I did, however, lose whatever
y'all had sent me right before I went on vacation, due to a "oops" on my
part. Haven't seen too much come my way, so I guess I didn't lose as much
as I thought I had.

Got the article on the Jacobs install, waiting for pics via snail mail.
Will probably put it up sans pics Thursday night if I work. I may take
another week's worth of vacation, since the store's closed till Monday.
I'd only be working Thursday and Friday night at the cab company, and I
don't really feel like working here those nights. It'd be nice to really
have a week off, no work at all, know what I mean? But... gotta check
that supply of green stuff, first.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of you! Hope all is well (I've brief
