At least Kaiser was smart enough to > put Buick engines in an FSJ (Mandatory FSJ content). Tom Anhalt I just had a scary thought... I've got a buick, tom's got a buick, Henry had part of a buick... there's the soon to be married guy in Pennsylvannia that likes those motors... how many others out there with a Buick in the drive or under the hood? (I traded into mine, turns out it's ok... wish it was a 4dr though... :) BTW, anybody out there have any experience with a Ford Explorer? How do they compare with an FSJ? I'm looking for a good torque converter for Old Blue.... 81, 360 with a TF727... it's a lockup style... The idea of testing mileage with a gear change may not work if Old Blue goes into coronary arrest before the operation... I'm not eager to swap motors... The gear swap would be nice, but no money right now for the parts or the labor... Would also like to try a 4 v carb at the same time... Oh well... all it takes is time and money... don't got neither right now... Hopefully the little wagoneer will get a lift this weekend... My rough country $99 3 inch lift kit came today from JC WHITNEY... It's only got 1 inch blocks and add a leafs for the rear... surprised me. Nice looking front coils. Will let ya all know if the little wag will be as tall as Old Blue... ttyl, john --------------------------------------------------------------- john-at- http://www./~john Snohomish, WA - where JEEPS don't rust, they mold... http://www./~john/statement.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- Full Size Jeep Page Editor - http://www.off-road.com/4x4web/jeep/fsj ---------------------------------------------------------------------[Back to Top]

Just noticed while I was puttering around last night, the " Cherokee" logo has a "S" above the picture of the Indian. This is repeated in several places on the Jeep. I understand from earlier post that this "S" designation is a trim package, n'cest-pas ??? No wonder Ol' White looks slightly smug ! (G) It's a cut above the rest of the Cherokee's :) Eddie in Vancouver (who should really go to bed before 2.00 am on weekdays)[Back to Top]

I have given him a bath ( he was getting a little green in spots) ( PNW; Jeeps don't rust, they go moldy, RIGHT JOHN M. ?); washed him down inside( got rid of last years dust, muddy kid prints, etc.) ; vacuumed the carpets ( got rid of last years sand that washed in; see web page for story <g>) ; changed the chunks of carpet that I had thrown in there two years ago ( they had been submersed a few too many times) ; got the fan working again, ( got one of them thar burnt up wiring blocks right where the fan connections uses to be ) ; verified the CB was working ( just pulled on a few wires, don't know what I did but it worked ) ; topped up the fluids ( Oh yeah, now I have one of them leaking PS units that we where talking about a while ago, thanks guys, <G> ) ; took it for a test drive up and down the block, the brakes seem to be OK, but I guess I'll find out for sure when I get a day permit and take him out on the road. Now the part that is a bit of a PITA. After having a battery that lasted all winter, being used approx. once a month to start the Jeep, now that I want to actually _drive_ the Jeep, the DURN thing is dead!!!! I had to push the beast back into the garage ! Do you know what it's like pushing a FSJ backwards _up_ your driveway, back into the garage ??? Oh Yeah2, I managed to sneak Ol' White into the garage for a while. When I told Annette I was going to put him in the garage to work on it, she must of thought I meant only for a few hours. When she opened the door and saw the Jeep still in there at night, there was a little bit of protesting done on her part. "But heck Honey, it's 85 degrees outside now, you don't need to put the Yuppie-Mobile in the garage at night any more" !! Now that I need a new battery, she is not complaining and insisting I move it out. Hey, she even helped me to cut the new carpets for the floors <:0 SO FAR, SO GOOD for the weekend run.............
