I pulled the freshly rebulit trans (only 1000 miles) from my Dodge van, expecting to just replace the converter which croaked inside, only to find the neck of the 998 converter has mushroomed and blown the front pump as well and sent shrapnel through the whole trans. Worst part is the broken speedo drive gear may have caused the problem, in which case I eat $500 for another trans because this is a special case, or rebuild the other trans I have which ISN'T computer controlled. Doesn't life REALLY bite sometimes? I'm ready to throw in the towel and haul it off and sell Blackie while I'm at it.
