It can be viewed at: http://jeep-calendar.homepage.com/layout.html As you can see I've already have many of the FSJ bases covered and have assembled a collection of high quality images covering a representative spectrum of FSJs. These are not necessarily going to be the final picks - they are just the best images that have been submitted thus far. I would have thought that by now I would have received more high quality images but that has not been the case. Most of the images have been small, not the right file type or just not crisp, sharp photos suitable for publication. I hope that you will all agree that the images I've put up on the web page are of high enough quality that no one will be unhappy with the final result. I'm confident that the high-resolution original versions of these photos (I've uploaded smaller, compressed versions) will reproduce well up to 8 x 10. If you see your FSJ up on the page and it's missing information, please follow my template/caption for my Super Wagoneer which is for now, the January image. In the final version I'll probably make that the November image since that's my birthday month. I'd like to get at least one high quality image of an FSJ in action on a trail. Although the images collected thus far have depicted essentially stock FSJ, which does reflect my personal preference, I'm hoping that additional images will surface before submitting the project to the printer. Right now I'm looking for a "Collectible Automobile" look for the final photographs. Comments, help and suggestions are gladly appreciated and welcomed. I'm still looking for several historically significant and limited editions FSJs to make this project complete. If you have one, please submit a photo of your rig. If you know someone with something like a mint condition Honcho, a limited edition 1971 with the Buick 350 of a showroom original final edition 1991, please ask them to participate. Thanks to everyone who has already helped on this project. I hope to wrap this up and send the CD-ROM off to the printer next Friday, November 24. This way we should have no problem getting these calendars printed in time for Christmas giving. I've got a '95 Dodge Stratus that I just changed the timing belt, plugs, wires, cap & rotor out on. I drove it for a day (100 mi?) and then it died on me. I backed it out of the driveway, and the rpms dropped down to about 200 rpm and it burbled and gurgled until it died. I started it again and it burbled and died a few times. Now I can't even get it to do anything but crank. I tried some starting fluid and no luck. I tried the old screwdriver in a plug wire next to a bolt trick, and couldn't find any spark. The manual says it could be a crank trigger, cam trigger, automatic shut-down relay???, coil or distributor. The last two have to be replaced as a unit! All of this stuff is under the intake plenum so it's a real joy to work on. Any suggestions? I want to get this fixed so I can rework the leaking exhaust on my GW. Manifold plugs Well, tried unsuccessfully to plug the air injection ports in the exhaust manifold with muffler putty and the hollow bolts, It was quiet for about two blocks. What is the right size again ? M12 x 10mm long ? Wonder where I can find some of these... What a racket. Also, any suggestions on the right quality/type of hose for power steering return line ? or should I just go buy one pre packaged ? - - Landon '89 GW ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 09:18:24 -0600 From: "Landon Tesar" Subject: fsj: Wag stereo Hi, Paul. what kind of amplifier and size speakers did you put in ? That would be a good photo for the calander. Anyone remember that story??? Those near Indy know of that dealership? I seem to recall that it was on a major highway 30-40 miles out of Indianapolis. Nick take it to any auto parts store. They have free tests they can run to test the alternator and the battery. If both alternator and battery test out fine, and you're sure it's a dead battery that won't start it, then it could be a burnt fusible link not allowing the alternator to charge the battery. It could also be a bad starter that mimics a dead battery. Turn the headlights on, are they lit? If so, turn the key to start... lights get real dim? if so, it could be the battery or the starter... if the lights don't dim at all, it's the starter... not conclusive tests, your best bet is having someone check it out.... john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 13:48:02 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: Re: thanks At 11:38 AM 11/15/00 -0700, nickandtracy wrote: >thankyou I will go test them. In my case, I was able to wrap 'em in electrical/duct/packaging tape to hold the chintzy plastic bottom half to the chintzy metal top half. Really all that's needed IIRC is to hold the top half in place so the press-button can release the mechanism. The thing that actually does the holding is all solid metal as one might expect. Anyone know of other FSJ seatbelt buckles that are better quality? My 72 Pontiac has all-metal buckles that won't fall apart like the mid 80's FSJ buckles. I may yet grab a set out of an early 70's GM vehicle and transplant 'em. The rears always get smashed by someone who forgets to move them out of the way of the rear seat before folding it back down.
