It's hard to make the transition, but with a little help from my friends I think I'll make it. ;) I actually turned down information on where I could find a large storage container today. I turned down a $500 Grand Wagoneer the other day too... :) I'm on the road to recovery my friends... :) So, I've gathered up the first batch of pictures for ebay. Pictures are at: http://wagoneers.com/ebay http://www.wagoneers.com/ebay/01-june-03/ (look for the ALL-ebay... image) It's going to take some time to get the ebay ads setup, if you see something you want email me off list right away. I've limited the parts to items that are mailable. A few of the pieces will be a pain to ship, like the console and spoiler... Will try to get pictures of the rest of the stuff tomorrow, er, later today. :) btw, you can search ebay for my stuff once I get it up there, handle is dieseljohn john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 03 Jun 2001 12:59:45 -0700 From: Mike Dillon Subject: fsj: Re: Specialty Jeep Parts, San Carlos I believe they are going though an ownership change, the original owners were bought out. Definitely start with a compression test, but know that in your situation, a compression test may not necessarily reveal the problem. In some cases, a compression test will not reveal this type of problem unless the head gasket is badly blown. Therefore, if a compression test shows no problem, do a cylinder leakage (leak-down) test before concluding that the head gasket is OK. A cylinder leakage test basically involves forcing compressed air into each cylinder & reading the percentage of air that leaks out of the cylinder on a gauge. Each cylinder must be tested at TDC of the compression stroke; so you'll need to bump the engine with the starter or turn it over by hand (apologies if that leak-down test explanation was overly elementary for this list). You'll obviously need an air compressor; so if you don't have one, make friends with someone does (or rent one). The test gauge itself can be found at a reasonable price through a number of tool suppliers. Eastwood sells a simple one for about $30 to $40. Do the test with your radiator cap off, & even a very slight head gasket leak will make air bubbles appear in the coolant during the test. Glad to hear your J10 made it through the tangle with the Sundance ok. My wife's little wagoneer was totalled the first part of May... some kid in a Saab pulled out and broadsided her, she was doing 50mph... he spun her around. The driveshaft got spit out (slip yoke setup on the xj's) the rock slider got bent under, the rear spring tweaked and the rear rim gashed a bit. The b pillar was bent... The little wagoneer had 210,000 miles on it and had been totalled once before. I could have straightened the b pillar and replaced the rear spring, but I let it go to the salvage yard... she's going to get a much nicer XJ soon as I sell my '83 300sD and my cheap jeep ('87 xj). My '83 J10 is getting the driveline out of a '96 XJ a 4.0L HO motor with the Aisin Warner 4 speed automatic overdrive. It's also getting the NP219 full time quadratrac from an early '80's Cherokee. I'm really looking forward to getting that fuel injected engine in with the automatic. The 258 I had with the T5 was ok, but shifting is a pain in the lower back for me. :) I swore off 360's, they are very thirsty. yep, that's a cool looking J10 you mentioned: http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/images-FSJ/m-truck3.jpg Well, gotta run, take care down there, and enjoy that FreeBSD, it rocks. I'm doing Solaris, HP-UX and Linux... later, john At 12:48 AM 6/4/01 -0400, David Wujcik wrote: David Wujcik >Welp, so start off, I'm a 19-year-old FreeBSD geek working the internet >startup scene in Northern Virgina.
