They come with a little bit of hardware to mount it and attach it to an existing door lock mechanism. They've had these in stock for over 6 months so I'm assuming the supply won't dry up anytime soon, but you never know. They have a great monthly catalog. Fun to look thru if you're an electronics geek or just a wannabe like me. Michael - --- Michael E. A guy here is looking for a cheap NP229 for his XJ Wagoneer Ltd. From: Jeremiah Westpfahl Hi Folks. Got a bunch of questions & suchlike, let's see if I can get them organized here. 1: I'd like to have a Tripometer in the instrument cluster of my 88GW, what clusters will fit? Will anything else fit in there or is it GW only? A: I wonder if the XJ would work? I have one in the '88 I'm parting, but not my '86 Comanche. The '88 also has full gauges. 2: Anyone got any maroon interior parts around? I need one of the snap in vents for the underdash AC in Maroon red. Also would like to get my hands on a center cap for the stock 88 mags. There's probably other piddly bits I need, but I can't think of them right now. A: Someone probably has them, but Oly4x4.com and Empire truck wrecking in BC, Canada has a burgundy GW with NICE leather interior (or did last I was there and got power mirrors. Holy cow! That was over a year ago!) 3: The passenger side of my Jeep has a rubber strap w/ slots in it hanging below the front Seat Belt, what is that thing? I have no idea what the purpose is. A: To keep the back seat folded up. 4: The hood springs aren't wanting to push the hood up, they just stay stuck down. What can I do to make the springs slide on the shaft correctly? A: Did they change the hood hinges? Mine are just scissor style, and I lubed them with B'Laster. 5: Finally I got a parts GW in that I'd be willing to sell/swap things off of. It's an 85 & pretty rough, but I'll have some good/usable stuff on it. Blue w/ tan interior. Seems to be holding up ok. I've decided I don't like heat riser valves anymore. The passage that the hot gases pass thru gets a lot of oil burnt and caked up on it which I suppose flakes into the oil, lifter bosses, etc., and if the riser sticks closed, it kills performance and I wonder too if the thing doesn't result in some vapor lock... it'll be interesting to see what if any cold weather penalties I pay. I usually have reverse logic, so ping being lean must be right, because if you had asked me, I would have said that being rich makes it ping. It seems to me that if the mixture were lean, it would be even MORE difficult to have ignition before the spark. Of course compression can fire the mixture, (as you diesel-lovers know) but I don't think I'm getting pre-spark compression fire. Carbon build-up, hot spot,... OK I can buy that, but I don't think I've got carbon buildup -at least not bad enough to be cooking red hot & fire the mixture early, or so thick that the compression is raised) And my pinging is very particular, it doesn't do it all the time. Usually only on the way home in the evening. I usually drive it a little hotter and the temp is significantly up.... it's another angle I'm pursuing... But in my mind an unusually rich or slightly rich mixture would be more susceptible to an early fire than a mixture short of fuel. I am having trouble getting it to shift into 4x4 mode from limited slip mode. Last week, it worked for the first time in about 5 months(switch the lines after getting tranny rebuilt). Doesn't work again. When the switch is moved from normal to emergency mode, there is just a lasting hiss as long as the switch is twisted, but when I let go it stops(starts again if I twist again). When I move it back from emergency mode back to normal mode I get the correct Shhhhhh-kt! sound. I have already replaced the (flexable)vacuume lines that go to the T-case. I know I have seen someone quote new actuator(glovebox) switch for cheap on the list before(please re-list). Would this fix my problem? I really do not want to change to part time because I really like the functionality of this revolutionary T-case.
