But they do seem to hold up to torque well. Tcase hits are less likely on an FSJ but still it'd be worth building a nice thick skidplate to bolt under the case. Someday I'll get around to doing that for mine. I think I just read in a mag that the Dodge cases were fixed yoke. Better check to be sure. I would think 500 ft-lbs would pretty much dictate an NP205 or Rockwell or something equally stout. I think the Bronco NP205's were 2.5:1 ... Michael - --- Michael E. Also, I think I read > somewhere that the DJs used the 232 until '76 I think? >-Doc correct... the 1976 and 1977 Jeep Technical manuals include both the 232 and 258. 1979 only has the 258 i-6. I don't have a '78 manual... :) The FSJ's quit using 232's during 1971 when they were phased out and replaced with the 258s. It's interesting to note how long the older engines were used in the bobtails... the YJ was the last one to get the 4.0L as well... john ----------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com '99 Grand Cherokee Ltd (WJ) / '83 J10 stepside (SJ) '67 J-100 (SJ) / '87 cherokee laredo (xj) http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html Snohomish, WA, where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 20:33:07 -0700 From: john Subject: fsj: follow-up on the accident the guy pinched between the classic '40's vintage ford and the probe sustained broken ribs and a ruptured spleen... the lady that got thrown across the parking lot by the old ford, only a bump on the head... driver of the mustang, bruised shoulder, the 4 yr old girl a bump on the head, 22 week old no injuries... driver of the cimmaron was hauled off in handcuffs, his female passenger hauled off in an ambulance, unknown... http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/Accident-01sep09-SR9/ I was really concerned about the guy that owned the old Ford... he must be one tough old dude.
