Hi Folks. My 88GW has been having some problems lately, we're thinking it's got a valve problem. Keeps backfiring into the carb & running like squat. Already replaced the carb twice & done a full tuneup. Quite frankly we're tired of fighting with the 360 & I'm toying with the notion of putting a great condition 258/998 combo I got in a dead Eagle Wagon in there. Was thinking of setting the whole mess in there complete (brackets, accesories, & all) since the Eagle has Serpentine belt. What all would I HAVE to change to make it work? Are the mount towers different between the 6 & 8? Will the 727 transfer bolt up to the 998 trans? They got the same spline count? Or would I have to use the transfer out of the Eagle? I haven't seen too many 6cyl Wagoneers/Cherokees, so I thought I'd get a little feedback before I got too serious. Thanks Miah Make a great connection at Yahoo! (in lieu of correct nomenclature, I'll use description) in the front axle, at the outer driver's side, where there is a u-joint connection, one end into the axle housing, the other into the wheel hub, I can move the whole assembly in and out about 1/2 - 3/4 " Is this too much ? Does it vary with the angle of the front wheels ? Thanks for your advice. - - Landon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Oct 2001 15:45:24 CDT From: Dan Black Subject: fsj: Jeep concept vehicle I hadn't seen these pics before: http://www.motorcities.com/contents/01B6B132445883.html Has the Liberty front (grill, hood -- or at least very similar). Kinda like the headlights and taillights... Heck, I wish they _did_ make the back end of the Liberty or Grand Cherokee like that (except with an enclosed back). I like the body in general, though again, I'd prefer enclosed. Looks bad with all the green reflections, but I think the body itself is actually all straight silver. Dash has potential, but of course needs to be better detailed. Side rear-view mirrors are kinda cool, though they shouldn't make them stick out quite that far. Windshield looks a bit narrow. Wheels look dumb (but interesting how they went with the old-style military type; big diameter but narrow). Nice bumpers if those places for two hooks are functional (read "solid"). >From the stats at the bottom, sounds like it's intended as a beachmobile or something, though I'd think they'd prefer wide tires for that. Maybe it's entirely intended for off-road. Anyway, needs a bigger, more powerful engine. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It does not do to leave a live Dragon out of your calculations. -- J.R.R. Overall, I like it! Anyway, see all of them at http://www.motorcities.com/contents_off-road.html (And for John, there's a "Tonka" Jeep at http://www.motorcities.com/contents/01BRC510683183.html ... ;) ) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schizophrenia beats being alone. - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 10:18:05 -0400 From: George Milam Subject: fsj: Suspension lift Hello: I'm looking to lift the suspension on my '89 Grand Wag about 4 inches. Does anybody know what I need for parts to do this? Is there a reasonably priced kit out there that I could buy? If so is there a link to the site or a name of the company? (JC Whitney really wasn't helpful over the phone they could only find XJ stuff in their "customer service" computer. Maybe they have it and I'm not asking for the correct product? I have a buddy here at work that will do the mechanical work for me if I buy the kit. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
