I'm guessing it's John wrote: >NP229 - Selectrac - a good unit. NO lockup in 4wd high though. Locks up in 4wd low. Probably don't have the axle disconnect setup, which is good. A: Given that it is an '86, it's more likely a NP228, but it could be a NP229. I considered modifying a NP229 with NP219 parts into a 2WD hi/4WD hi/4WD hi lock/ 4WD low lock like some of the ZJ listers are doing with the NVG242 and NVG249s. (Haven't tried it, so it may not be possible. I'll ask Zack) >>okay... I'll keep HellJeep's twin-stick Dana 20 just in case... mebbie I can fix up that TH-400 a bit, keep it just-in-case. >you'd have to swap the front axle out too though... drop is on the wrong side. Rear axle is an AMC 8.75" job. A: Rear axle would need to match ratios though! >>Dunno how I'll pipe out the Onan's exhaust, but gonna hafta do something. A: I saw a '70's Ford pickup with an Onan mounted under the hood! John wrote: >SuperDawg is still undergoing a frame off restoration and the swap in of a '96 xj 4.0L HO engine. My friend had to move, is buying a house and kind of got distracted... ;) It'll be worth the wait though. A: And Black Jack is getting a temporary 4.0L transplant (it's already under the hood, but my days off are sucked into the void lately.) I need to find my 4.2L motor mount brackets so I can plop it down correctly (anyone got a clutch pedal I can borrow for a couple months? My parts rig was a std trans, so I have to shift the 5 speed somehow. Too much in town traffic for synchro shifting! ************************************* JimBlair, Seattle,WA '84 J10, '86 Comanche http://www.geocities.com/eaglemania2002/ http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=13998 ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 12:19:50 -0500 (EST) From: David Charles Gedraitis Subject: [none] not a jeep, but boy...do I want one! http://www.carradine.net/postcards/davidson/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Nov 2001 18:26:30 -0600 From: "Vince Orr" Subject: Re: fsj: Re: Majordomo return address I can see where this is going.....either the user gets annoyed or the user gets annoyed.......no win situation.
