I have a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer for sale. The Jeep has 130,000 miles. Grey exterior on Burgundy (wine?) interior. The Jeep is located near Greenville, SC (half way between Charlotte & Atlanta). I^Rm located in Norfolk, VA and will be happy to arrange to have a relative show the Jeep to you. Last year I spent about $700 on a remanufactured carburetor and new breaks along with a tune up (I have various receipts, etc). Cosmetics: The Jeep has original paint. By original I mean it^Rs faded. However, I^Rd like to point out that tired paint is often preferable to a cheap re-spray that many used car lots would give it. I had plans to spend about $2000 on a repaint - but I never got around to making the investment. The Interior is nice with no cracks in the dash or seats. The carpet in the foot wells is showing wear. The carpet in the back cargo area has a few rips and needs to be replaced. There is a small tear (maybe inch?) on the top of the rear passenger seat back. All the power windows work but one of the rear passenger windows is slow. I recently replaced the plastic track in the driver^Rs side window when it broke. The switch for the rear window spontaneously quit working a few months ago. It may just need to be cleaned - although I doubt replacing it entirely would be that costly. The rear window still lowers if you use the key in the rear switch. All the wood wallpaper is in good condition. The Jeep has a class 7(?) towing kit. The original factory radio was replaced with a Pioneer CD player. All the speakers were replaced with Pioneer 3-ways (with no modification to the door panels) and the stereo sounds really good. Engine: This is the obligator 360 V8. It may need a tune up. It has a rough idle. Unfortunately I don^Rt know much about the mechanical condition of the 360 - but I feel the Jeep is typical of a 130,000-mile vehicle that hasn't^Rt had any major over haul on the engine. The AC works fine and the last time I checked it - (over a year ago) it did blow cold. The Jeep is probably in need of a tune up - and it should probably have most of the fluids changed. I haven't driven the Jeep regularly in over a year - but my mom routinely drives it 2 or 3 miles every few weeks to run an errand, etc. I replaced the radiator about 2 years ago - it had developed the typical pinhole sized leaks. This Jeep was my daily driver for 3 years when I lived in the upstate. I bought it with 80k miles on it in 1997. Damage: I did a stupid thing about 2 or 3 years ago. I was trying to park the Jeep in a parking space that was too narrow. I lightly bumped a pickup truck^Rs rear bumper with the side of the Jeep. So there is a largish dimple in the right side rear passenger door. It^Rs not very obvious - but it is there. A body shop could easily repair this dent. Other than this the Jeep has never been involved in any accidents. The only other problem/issue I can think of is that the fuel gauge stops a < tank. I don^Rt know if this is a problem with gauge or not. It^Rs always done this as long as I^Rve had it - anytime the needle nears a < I^Rd fill it up. I'm asking $1500 dollars. I start school in January and I need this money to help with my tuition. If you're interested in the Jeep please call me at 757-622-9446. Again - I'm located in Norfolk, VA & the Jeep is near Greenville, South Carolina. If you want to see the Jeep I'll have to make a phone call and arrange to have a relative show the Jeep to you. Just a couple of questions: I have an '89 Grand Wagoneer, does anybody know what that rubber strap that hangs/is hooked behind the front passenger seat belt is for? Also, I am missing a wood grain strip on the back drivers side door. The strip has a little chrome edging on top and bottom. Does anybody have one to sell or any ideas on where I can get one for replacement? Thanks Very Much! People keep asking that... ;) It's to hold the back seat forward when you put it up for more cargo space. There's a metal knob at the appropriate place on the back seat frame to hook the strap onto. Put the seat up; you'll find it. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The more you observe politics, the more you've got to admit that each party is worse than the other. -- Will Rogers - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 12:57:13 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: Re: wagoneer seals On Mon, 26 Nov 2001, Dan Beiers wrote: >-->john, >-->where can i find door and window seals for my wagoneer. no auto parts >-->stores seem to carry them. is there a specialty shop or something? i >-->appreciate any help you can give. >--> >-->thanks very much >-->dan >--> wrecking yards or generic stripping. Using late model auto stripping will help seal things up nicely... GM cars have some nice stuff... easy to adapt... crown distributers might have the correct kind, and so might JC Whitney or a body shop... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux ** (plain text please!) ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. ...and remember, leaving life without Jesus just isn't recommended... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 13:21:38 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: RE: wagoneer seals On Mon, 26 Nov 2001, Dan Beiers wrote: >-->appreciate that. i guess i will just check out a couple of different >-->sections of the generic stuff and see what looks similar to what i have. >-->what about for the windows? the rubber seals that "guide the window" >-->are shot and i think i am taking in water. you think the boneyard would >-->be the best place to find these guys? thanks so much for your help. the dealer, anything in a boneyard will be bad... >-->being a Chicago suburb native i am assuming you are as excited about the >-->bears season as i am? go bears...13-2! bears? cubs? baseball? football? I'm not much of a sports guy... I knew Eugene Robinson for about 3 years before I figured out he played football... flipping through the channels one night I didn't get it changed fast enough when they went to sports and I saw him on tv! He admitted it next time I saw him. Then I was looking for him and found out he got transferred to Green Bay... I think I did watch part of the Superbowl that year... I remember watching the cubs back as a kid... mainly because there wasn't much else on... ;) Every now and then I'll get tickets to a game from a vendor. Kind of fun. My dad used to get tickets for Notre Dame. That was always a lot of fun too... anyway, good luck on your wag... btw, whereabouts are you in the windy city?
