That'll make the rack superstrong. From: Greg Loxtercamp First of all, those grommet things are called wellnuts. I found that ACE hardware carries them...at a much better price than the dealer...~$.50ea. Check in any hardware store that has those stacks of cardboard drawers with all the misc speciality hardware...that's where I found them... I would trust the factory rack when just tieing down to the factory crossbar, but not when adding extra height...unless the whole assembly is very rigid. The bases that attach to the roof (via the wellnuts) tend to flex side to side... Not sure about this, but could it be time for a new transmission mount ? This for all? FSJ's up 'til '87? when they went to a voltmeter. - - Landon ================== > Hi all, > > In Tank ('82 Chero) is the ammeter part of the charging circuit? I was able to put some parts on the Rez Runner last weekend. Since I didn't have an internet connection, well, I guess I had more spare time! ;) Put on my new window seals on all four doors, wasn't too tough. Dome light didn't work, found fuse that was blown. I guess I did that when I was trying to get the broke flasher button unstuck the other day. Put the new plastic diffuser over the dome light bulb. Only parts left to put on are the license plate light and the switch harness in the column. But the Bears are playing the Packers on Sunday so if I don't get it done on Saturday, well it will just have to wait now won't it? - --Vince '81 Wag - The Rez Runner '99 TJ '91 F%$D E150 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Dec 2001 21:08:14 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: a trek back east... brrrrrr.... looks like I'll need a winter coat... The thing is in Gordon, NE. No, I hadn't heard of it either. It's a burg in NW Nebraska, near the South Dakota border. ROAD TRIP! Anyone on the list near there and has a couch? I don't think I'll be staying at the Hyatt. So this thing runs/drives, glass is there, a little rot in the bed, but needs a rebuild - flathead 6 cyl, and needs new tires - 7.00 x 16 - anyone know a good brand ? 7.00 is max width. Not sure if it has overdrive. A guy here at work says you can park pointed against a tree, put in Low/Low, and it will dig itself into a hole. Another says you can put it in low/low, get out, and walk circles around it. So the plan is to get it - use the wag ? sort of a classy thing to do. Haul it across the state to the family farm near Lincoln and park it until the weather improves. Happy fun. - - Landon Austin, TX ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 11:13:35 -0500 From: George Milam Subject: fsj: RE: Willys pickup Good for you Landon! Sounds like a great score! Stock size is 6.50 x 16. Radials are preferred. Looks like it's slim pickings. Lots of them are made overseas, but few imported. Jim, what is the deal with Canadian Tire - they don't have any tires ? :) http://www.canadiantire.com They could call it 'Canadian Blender', or 'Canadian Food Processor, or just about anything else. - - Landon ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1515 **************************
