I agree, that's not an '89 grille, but the side trim is. dash is from an '86 and up, headrests are from '86 and up... hood ornament indicates '86 and up... as far as I can tell the grille is the only thing wrong... even the filler setup is correct. can't see under the speedo needle to see if it's 0 or not... Mrs Clause is still mad at him for wrinkle finishing his 401 valve covers in the oven, so she hasn't spoken to him in days and is out with some guy in a Chev Blazer. The elves are all arguing about piano wire versus glass removal tools and other silly stuff, so no toys are being made. Rudolf and Comet ran into a spot-lighter, so you know what happened to them. And the heat is off because no one thought to bring in the wood in the back of the J20 before the snow got here. So here Santa is bundled up against the cold, making toys by himself, having to eat cold soup and sandwiches, and generally not in a good mood. An Angel walks in carrying a christmas tree and in that cheery, happy voice that all Angels have, asks Santa; "I got the tree, big guy, where do you want me to put it?" - ------------------------ ************************************* JimBlair, Seattle,WA '84 J10, '86 Comanche http://www.geocities.com/eaglemania2002/ http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=13998 ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Dec 2001 22:57:52 -0700 From: "JC Jones" Subject: fsj: RE: All Original? I'd finally gotten my carport/shop mostly organized and cleaned out. Had a workbench sitting on concrete pavers behind the slab nice and level. All I needed to do was enclose it, cover the front with an arbor and I'd finally have a nice shop... Then the neighbors decided to pave the shared driveway, not a bad idea, the upper drive was a mess. But the contractor that was hired decided to put a box over a culvert up on the corner of my property that takes runoff from the Clearview hill and passed it through pipes in my yard out to the back into a creek. It's been there for 20 years, never leaked. He wasn't asked to do it, in fact, I asked them not to pave that area, but he did it anyway. Everyone looked at the drain sitting up on the high spot of the drive and asked why someone would put a drain there... it made no sense whatsoever.... The box was placed over a point where two culverts come together, the contractor installed a pipe going down between them. He removed the old plug from the original mess... the original contractor didn't do it properly for certain, but it wasn't leaking... So now with a "blowpipe" in place water was forced up out of the connection and gushed up into the box and around the original connection and even under the driveway... eroding that section of the driveway and forcing water down my hillside... We had several rivers pouring over the hillside... listen to the sound of it: http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/hillside-flood-Dec17-2001/hear-the-water.mov My wife's garden, that's been there for years now, is badly eroded, our drain field is most likely damaged, my carport slab is hanging in thin air. The concrete is extended without support almost 4 feet in the back corner, and holding up the carport... this concrete is only about 7 months old too... impressive... there is no wire mesh, rebar or any metal work, it's just regular cement about 3.5" thick. http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/hillside-flood-Dec17-2001/concrete-bridge.jpg The paving contractor refuses to accept any responsibility, won't even clean up the mess he made of the driveway next to my carport where he dumped the old dirt, left ruts and piles of dirt in front of the carport that diverted the excess runoff into my carport. He's even threatened me with physical harm if I call him again. He never even come out to look at the problem or the mess he left me. Kept saying he'd come out when it was dry... and that it was just "shovel" work. I let him dump the dirt and gravel behind my shed with the expectation that he'd level things out and make sure my drive in front of my carport was graded back to what it was before. He did neither and refused to come out. Because he didn't regrade the drive in front of my carport it flooded and eroded, had the previous grade been intact the water would have passed in front of the carport as designed... I've contacted the state highway department about the water runoff, of course they claim no responsibility, neither does the county... Insurance policies don't cover damage from events like this... neighbor's aren't affected... so guess who gets to deal with it all... :( http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/hillside-flood-Dec17-2001/ALL-Dec16-flood.jpg Two things remain for me to do. Fix the culvert so it doesn't leak again. And get material back under my carport slab. I'll need to help the neighbor below (who was also flooded because of this) to get his excavator working in the morning and dig up the asphalt that is covering the old pipes and fix it correctly. The guy that did my concrete work is coming out, will probably hire him to fix the culvert correctly. Then I need to figure out how to get material back under the carport and regrade my driveway. Any ideas on how to get material back under a slab??? I didn't need this project... Can't use my carport until I can secure the slab... If you are looking for a paving company in the Puget Sound, let me know, I'll give you one name that you do NOT want to use. :) They're out of Marysville... I didn't hire the guy, don't even know his contractor number and really don't have the time or money to pursue legal action against the guy. All I know is I'm stuck with the problem and no real avenue of recourse. And more rain is coming... :( Been here for about 8 years and never had water problems like this until this guy messed with that culvert... Neighbor has been here for almost 20 years and never seen it leak... yet this paving contractor says he didn't change anything, except to remove the cover my neighbor had over it... He's blaming the heavy rains. But we've had heavy rains here before... I don't buy it. But I guess I get to "buy" the repairs... :( john - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1523 **************************
