I'd like to see the picture of the Chief emblem, can you put it on a website somewhere? john - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 10:22:18 -0800 (PST) From: Carnuck-at-webtv.net (James Blair) Subject: Re: fsj: Missing and Surging A: Temporarily add a wire from you alternator output to the battery + and see if the problem goes away. I think '85 is the last year of the ammeter in FSJs, and any corrosion on the terminals behind the dash will caue this problem (they also get hot and melt wiring). Then make sure you have a ground wire not only from the battery negative to the motor, but a smaller wire to the body from the negative as well. From: "Daniel Beiers" Guys, My 85 waggy has always had a low idle, slight miss at idle etc. after the alternator went out, i have noticed more of a power drop when i come to a stop and the idle is low. before the alt went out the lights would dim with the miss at a stop sign etc. but now the power drops so low that the radio is turning itself off and the dash lights are barely detectable. i took new alt into the store and it tested fine. i mean it is working, the truck is starting etc. i checked for vacuum leaks tuned it up with new plugs and the rest of the ignition stuff hoping to fix the slight miss, but to no avail. i am wondering what is causing this miss and really, the power surging. i am not prepared to do big overhaul right now so i was wondering what you guys would do as a remedy for this problem. i was thinking about a deep cycle battery as my battery is old and could use replacing. perhaps you guys could offer some more insightful solutions. i appreciate any help you can give, thanks, dan 85 Grand Wagoneer 86 CJ-7 ************************************* JimBlair, Seattle,WA '84 J10, '86 Comanche http://www.geocities.com/eaglemania2002/ http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=13998 ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 13:34:23 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: J3000 is gone, Ranger is home what a muddy mess outside... mark didn't get the engine out of the back, had to deal with it when the guy came for the truck. now it's sitting in the middle of the drive. got the ranger home, just simple green'd the engine, going to move the stereo from the Cherokee into it. exhaust on the driver's side dropped down, very loud, have to wait until I can retrieve the parts next weekend. The little ranger isn't too bad. No worry about speeding tickets that's for sure. john - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2002 02:03:16 -0500 From: mpolkkidodge-at-netscape.net Subject: fsj: 88?
