If you need a spring lift, I have a set of 3" custom built for flex and holding up a heavy front bumper with winch or snow plow. They cost me $700 (I was going to put them on my '83 Cherokee), but I will be lifting even higher now since the rears won't fit my pickup. I'll include the near new Trailmaster shocks and new Ubolts if someone wants the springs (they were extra) If you have the roof rack rails, I have the parts that slide in them (I think. They may be from my AMC Eagle, or they could be the same for both. AMC did a lot of that) If you want taller tires, I have a set of 33"/10.5/16 on alloy wheels that cost me $1000 (Worth over $1200 and still brand new, they are a cross between rainy highway and off-road traction/on-road w/o being whiney designed tread Avons) I also have a set of the shiny alloy slotted wheels with RWB fulltime caps (haven't set a price on them yet. The caps sell for -at-$100 on Ebay) What gear ratio do you have? I have an '85 GW model 20 with 2.72 (needs the axle tubes welded for strength as one side is coming loose) for $50 and I have a CJ-5 Model 20 with 3.54 gears for $125 (what I paid for it before I scored some 4.10 D44 gears) for better gears for offroading. (you'd need to find matching front gears though) I also have a 2WD 5 speed from an '87 Cherokee (they aren't very strong though) for $100. A pair of XJ 3.08 matching front and rear diffs for $150. I have an MJ 4.10 rear axle for $200 obo (it's still under my trailer box from the '87 Comanche I parted) I have a bunch of 6 cyl accessories (4.0L and 4.2L) AC/PS brackets (I used the 4.2L PS brackets on my 2.5L MJ) good used starters, alternators (same for V8 and 6 cyl) Soon I will have the 2.72 rear diff from my '84 J10 to sell (I'll sell the front diff too if someone has an '80 up WT or J10 housing and shafts for part swap since I'm going SOA with high mount hubs) I also have the front aluminum (450 obo) and steel rear bumper ($150 obo) from the '84 J10 (I'm putting new Scotty's Killer32 bumpers and Nerfs on) Anyone interested in a package price, let me know! (EG: if someone buys tires and springs, I'll throw in the 2" body lift I have with the deal) I'll have more to post soon (like a new 100 or 200 amp Delco 1 wire chrome alternator after I get it tested) Whatever I don't sell will be going to the next Jeep flea market in Snohomish (as soon as I get another looong D60 axle shaft for my Dodge Wideone van) ************************************* JimBlair, Seattle,WA '84 J10, '86 MJ http://www.geocities.com/eaglemania2002/ Black Jack's before pic: http://wagoneers.com/JEEPS/FESTS/Snohomish-April2-2000/PIC00004.JPG ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 09:22:36 -0800 From: "allyoop" Subject: fsj: QT fluid Sorry I was dozing a few weeks back when we discussed good sources for QuadraTrac Fluid (Jeep part no. 8123004). Really Found the following in a 1977 book by Granville King: "But the Jeep offering, called Quadra-Trac, made by Borg Warner, is a breakthrough.." "It's center differential puts torque to the axle that can use it unlike the open differential that lets the torque escape out to the axle that has a slipping wheel. And - wonders of wonders- it was put in a Wagoneer, affectionately known in the past as the Family Lumber Wagon, which went on to take sports rallies! In one race the two Wagoneers took one-two. Slightly unbelievable!...." "In the state of the art, it's where our type of 4wd is at today." He goes on to explain: "Results showed that on the skid pad (going fast in a circle) and in the slalom the Quadra-Trac beat a 2wd system by 10 to 17 percent. On acceleration, the fulltime system was 40 percent better. On exaggerated lane entry -- where you put the wheel over hard and bury the gas the fulltime system was 50 percent quicker." " The results, in any event, are slightly spectacular..." " consistently, the driver is able to dump his heavy Wagoneer into corners some 20 to 30 mph faster than competing vehicles. Nailing the gas and downshifting he yanks out of the corner while other vehicles slide out." The next time you get a little discouraged with your vehicle, think of it as a sports car, and a rally winner to boot! I am posting a picture from the book of a Wag that raced in rallies on the cfsja website. Look for "rally wagoneer" Hope this was interesting. Gary 73 Wag P.S. I am posting a picture from the {- book of a Wag that raced in rallies on the cfsja website. {- Look for "rally wagoneer" Couldn't find the pic; got a URL? For those who didn't see them last year, I have pics when I took my '88 GWag (which only had the stock 2bbl at the time, though better exhaust) to an ice race on a frozen pond in Feb 2001. (One car at a time, basically a big circle marked with cones. Sadly, it wasn't anywhere near cold enough long enough this year.) The best pic is: http://129.186.79.84/icerace2001/88GWag-all/MVC-859X.jpg and there's a nice balance-corrected thumbnail version at http://129.186.79.84/icerace2001/88GWag-all/88GW-snow.jpg That was taken by a local friend, Matt Wiggins, who also happens to own and run http://www.neons.org/ . You're welcome to browse around those directories for more pics. (I need to adjust the brightness/contrast balance on those sometime... the pics come out dark because the sun was so bright that day. Looks like a full eclipse in the pics.) For info about the results, I saved their results page at http://129.186.79.84/icerace2001/Daytona%20Ice%20Event.htm I'm car #42, down in the 4wd class. I was smack in the middle of the 4wd results, which I consider decent considering it was the stock 2bbl and it was my first race of any kind. Other fun things to note on that page: * You'll notice somebody ran a Navigator. I think it was a '97 or so, but still fun to see one actually out using the 4wd instead of confined to the pavement. I think the vehicle was capable of MUCH more, but watching him, he seemed to be driving very conservatively. * No rear-wheel-drive cars beat me, and in fact, they only beat two of the 4wd vehicles/drivers. Anyway, yes, the Suburban that won the rwd category really was only 2wd, probably intended as a rig to take trailers on vacation. He got stuck on the entrance to the lake itself, and it took quite a few guys to get him out. Think we might've ended up pulling him with my car and chain -- don't remember for sure on that one, but I know we did that a couple times. * I'm a little surprised the all-wheel-drive Talon didn't beat me; I think it was a turbo and everything. (Of course, a lot has to do with the driver, among many other factors. Trucks still have the advantage of being able to brute-force large piles of snow; cars have fewer options there.) * There were two front-wheel-drives that beat me. They were both pretty peppy cars (that could blow me away on a straight, dry stretch, I'm sure) and probably had traction control and stuff besides. (I could ask a friend to be sure; he knows. :) ) You'll note that one of them, a beautiful black Probe GT, also got stuck on the entrance to the lake: http://129.186.79.84/icerace2001/Matt's%20pics/MVC-812F.jpg I think we didn't use a chain on him because we would've messed up the plastic around the bottom of the car, and it was light enough that several of us were able to push it out by hand. BTW, you're welcome to forward this to other FSJ lists, esp. the CFSJA list, but I don't think they accept emails from non-subscribers, so I won't try cc:ing myself. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apology accepted, Captain Needa. -- Darth Vader - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1596 **************************
