Pacey has a GWag; might technically be his dad's. Now I'm upset.(limited digest content) [For those who aren't following, this is from "Dawson's Creek"...] Yeah, sorry to include spoilers, but it was I think early this season (maybe even late last season), so didn't expect it to ruin anything for anyone. I liked his character, too. The actor is pretty cool; dunno why they killed off the character. The actor was even in the episodes of his death and funeral, which included several flashbacks (new scenes to the viewers), so I'm guessing there wasn't a falling out or anything. Maybe he has other projects I don't know about. Mitch (the character) was killed driving back from the store at night. He dropped some ice cream on the floor, leaned over to pick it up, and didn't see a tired and somewhat inebriated driver drift into his lane on a curve. I can't remember if Mitch was driving another Jeep or a Ford SUV. Dawson in those episodes was driving a newer black Wrangler, I think. (I don't remember for sure.) To include some obFSJ content, specifically in the episode with the flashbacks from other characters' lives relating to Mitch (where all the normal actors played their younger selves, which wasn't surprising or weird), Pacey's flashback was with the FSJ (since it's Pacey's, or his dad's, vehicle). In "real time", Pacey had just stopped I think by the Leary house, and he thought back to when Mitch took him for his first driving lesson (since Pacey's dad was busy or something -- Pacey and his father are usually not on very good terms), in the GWag, of course. IIRC, it's a late 80s (like after the Chrysler grill and interior change) dark blue GWag. Later in that episode or the next episode or so, Pacey drove Dawson (in the GWag) out to the place where the accident happened to illustrate his point that it wasn't Mitch's (or Dawson's, or some Leary's) fault. The same truck was in some of the early episodes (first season or two); I particularly remember a Halloween episode where they drove (the GWag) to the store at night in it, and while the others were in the store, a stranger asked Joey (who was waiting in the car) for directions. Then the stranger turned up on the news later as the serial killer or something. In other WB shows, besides the times I already mentioned with FSJs in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", Buffy's mom also had an XJ (probably early 90s style) most of the time. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Ben Franklin, 1753 - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 07:50:08 +1000 From: "Veijo Phillips" Subject: RE: fsj: my FSJ The pickups (J10,J20) and 2 doors were made until 1985 when jeep Australia ceased operation. Aparently Jeep Australia imported all the cars from Canada and assembled them here. The 89 Grand Wagoneeer was a seperate import exercise by a queensland based company. No one seems to be able to give figures on how many were imported, some say only 30 but I'd have to say anything between 50-80. One thing I'm not to sure of is one fsj that we called the cherokee limited. It was sold between 83-85 and looked very much like your early 80's grand wagoneers except it was badged as a limited and had no wood panels on the side or rear. Was there actually a Limited made or would Jeep Australia just have re-badged a grand wagoneer as a limited???? If he won't ask for Randy and tell him I said you'd help him out with info and a great deal on tools and parts. Randy would even do the install in Everett for a fair price. Of course a fair price could run up in the same price you're at. When I wrote an article for orc 4 years ago I took pictures of the process while in randy's shop and was helping him with some of his web pages for a bit. Randy is a natural teacher, my son was there and only about 15 or so and Randy was explaining how everything worked. Randy made it clear that this was work that the average guy could do with the right tools and instructions. For me, I don't think so... :) FWIW, my son has his '77 Cherokee torn apart to install a locker... so something Randy said must have sunk home. :) Here's one of Randy's articles and it'll have links to his server and provide the toll free number. http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/tech/GEARING/myths.html john On 4/3/02 10:54 AM, "fsj-digest" wrote: > Date: Tue, 2 Apr 2002 13:45:16 -0800 (PST) > From: Alexander Wall > Subject: fsj: Differential work > > HELP! > > I bought the gears I wanted from Jim, but now I'm being quoted $600-$900 for > the labor switching > them.
