Sirs; This is the other guy, Nick, who was tooling up to make AMC timing chain / cam thrust plate kits and, apparently they're ready, in both cast and billet models. As you know, I made my own and while I was in the early stages of developing it I discovered the Cloyes / Clevite timing gears had ( 4 ) deep cast-in pockets around the hub. The problem is you've got to machine the back of the back of the timing gear for the thrust plate and if the gear has these deep cast-in pockets then there's very little material left in the floor of these pockets. The Cloyes / Clevite timing chains are a good product and more than adequate in a stock application, but I do NOT recommend modifying them for a thrust plate, period. I finally got a hold of him concerning what type of timing gear he's using, and no, it's NOT the Cloyes / Clevite brand. I don't know where he gets his but he's aware of the issue and both his cast and and billet models have good, solid hubs. We ended up talking for quite a while and, in summary, we pretty much came up w/ the same end result. He came up w/ it before I did and had the $ to get it to market first but it's the same thing and I highly recommend it. May be a little more than I would've charged and some of the details are a little different, yes, but he's also giving you the drills you need and a bottle of Loctite, you know? His kits are complete, ready to bolt on and reasonably priced. He doesn't have a website that I know of but his e-mail address and phone # is at the end of this message: give him a call and cure your cam walk problem before it happens. I did.
