You need to run semi-metallic pads or performance pads to help. The non-asbestos pads don't work nearly as well. I can't think of anything to improve braking, but someone on the list might. One possibility is to switch to a GM Hydraboost setup... john ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Aug 2002 11:13:16 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: Re: fsj: Re: FSJ brakes A: One from a GM truck is easiest (check the diesel powered ones from the '80s) and closest boost match for FSJs but make sure it doesn't leak. They are expen$ive to rebuild! (I have one that leaks now) When they go out, you have manual brakes and steering! Also make sure it's not ABS. A: Unfortunately, it's a cascading problem. W/O the steering knuckle, I have no way to hook up steering to my front axle. Even if it arrives monday, my driveshaft measurements need to be done with everything assembled and sitting on it's wheels. Ditto the exhaust. I just can't get there from here in the allotted time. We will probably be joining the backroads group this weekend, then cruising down to Ouray in 2WD. From: john Subject: fsj: Re: Ouray update... I mean, I mean, McGyver wouldn't quit missing only ONE part now would he? ;) Hey, look at the bright side my friend, you'll save a LOT of money of fuel this way. :) See you in Ouray... unless you wander over to the Eastside Saturday... ;) john ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Aug 2002 14:43:38 -0500 From: "R.J.
