It behaved much like the Detroit did in the little wagoneer (xj). When I shifted the truck went off to one side as I applied or removed power... When I backed off the gas it moved in the lane... very annoying. Not good. Not going to happen in SuperDawg. ;) However, the cool part is going around corners... :) chirp, chirp, squawk... Anyway, it was enough to convince me to go with ARB, Ox or the electric lock up True Tracs when they're available and I have the bucks... Leaving for Ouray on Sunday... :) yee haw... 5 years we've been talking about his and now it's going to happen. I hope and pray all make it safely... well, that and just make it... considering the probabilities associated with the mechanical systems... ;) later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Aug 2002 23:01:48 -0500 From: JeepNut Subject: fsj: Re: News about nothing I don't know about temparature, or cooling ratios, or any other tech stuff re A/C, but I know my wifes XJ (92 w/R134 or whatever the new stuff is) on it's best day never has come anywhere close to putting out air as cold as this puppy does now. Got the new 4-core radiator in tonight. Put the 195 thermostat back in too. Tomorrow, the new bumper goes on. Need to wire up the CB. Going to wire up an extra power port for my Coleman electric cooler. The rear seat will be left at home. Trying to figure out how I'm going to secure everything during trail riding. For those of you leaving early....have a safe trip and I hope to see you there. We will be at the KOA in Ouray the night of the 14th and through Saturday. Look for a mahogany and rust Illinois Wagoneer with lots of ugly rust converter spots. It's about 1200 miles to Ouray from Chicago. First night (Tuesday) I think I'll be pulling into Alma, NE. I'll slip down to I-70 from there, and cross on Hyw 50 eventually. I'm counting on the mountains to set the rings in my new pistons. - --Vince '81 Wagoneer ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 09:59:43 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: Check This Out! New 4 core radiator is in and Rez runs about 3/4 in the green now - and it was a hot day here in Chicago. Tranny don't leak, new PS pump and lines are on. And best of all......my new rear bumper from Killer 32 fabrications is on. Unfortunately, my rear frame was tweaked in that accident more than I thought. Bumper wouldn't bolt up 'cause the factory holes wouldn't line up right. So, I put it in place and got out my little torch and wellllll, made my own holes. Looks great. Would look even better if I had a lift kit installed! Rez's rear end hangs a little too low. The bumper is made of better stuff than my frame. When my torch strayed onto the bumper bracket, it didn't melt at all. Scotty must use pretty good materials. The old bumper was like paper - really no protection at all. Test run on I-55 went well. I'll probably check the front brakes tomorrow and replace if they are worn down. Tomorrow, I wire up the whip antenna. Anyone ever tune one of these? I need instruction. I have an SWR meter. Never done this before. Will be leaving Tuesday and arriving Ouray on the 14th in time to pitch the tent. On the road, you can call me on my cell phone. It's Verizon so I should have pretty good coverage most of the way. I'll probably run on CB channel 19 when my daughter isn't playing CD's! I have no air conditioning so may be hard to hear anything. Did you all see the announcement? I say a bunch of us should get together, kidnap a CFSJA trail boss and run him on trails til he begs for mercy! Safe trip everyone! See you there! - --Vince Orr 630-712-7992 '81 Wagoneer ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1718 **************************
