Unlike a lot of things (girlfriend, dog, job, health) a car will be sitting in the EXACT same position you left it when you left it. Can't exactly tell your girlfriend that you just don't feel like dealing with her right now, then leave her in the driveway for two weeks. Same for a dog. As long as you take time to smell the roses, they don't run you ragged. Doesn't sound like your friend took much time to sleep, much less smell roses. Just got the call about my 52 year old Brother in law in SD... he passed away about 30 minutes ago. :( He had a stroke about 10 years ago, his wife left him and then in the last year he got brain cancer... one good thing is that he found Jesus before he passed. Over thanksgiving I got to talk with him, his faith was solid. What's really bad is my mother-in-law slipped and fell and broke her hip yesterday... she's in the hospital under medication now, they had to replace her hip joint, she's about 72. :( My wife is talking about going back to SD for the funeral... not sure if I can or not... I can get the time off work but I have to teach on Saturday... yikes... we could drive there and back before Saturday, but... I don't know... if we'd planned things out a bit better we could have driven back over the Christmas break. I need a few days off before hitting work again on Thursday and already plan on pulling an engine on Wednesday... Usually it doesn't rain this hard, this long in Oregon and Washington. We drove around for a while trying to find something to park under to swap the tranny from one Jeep to another... ended up pulling into a parking lot and standing in the rain talking about jeeps... then noticed across the street a covered parking lot. ROFL... My leather jacket still hasn't dried out yet. ;) http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/Kevins-74-Chero/ Notice that all the pictures have puddles and rain... the radio station there in Medford, Oregon noted that they were up to "normal" rain fall now... recall that just a few months ago they were fighting forest fires... Seems like the folks you meet on the internet with Jeeps are the nicest bunch. I think of all the folks across the country I've met from the lists. It's refreshing. It was a blast meeting up with folks in Ouray this summer as well. Sure wish there'd been more planned gatherings and more time to visit. The 20th anniversary of the XJ is coming up in 2004... ;) We just had the 40th of the SJ. The WJ will be a while... ;) Forget about the ZJ, I'm not sure we want to claim it. I found out they used three speed automatics behind the 4.0L's!!! What was that all about? Why not use the Aisin Warner 4 speed autos? Of course they used the 5.2/5.9 Chrysler-Dodge V8s in them too... Chrysler has had a few lapses of logic... and seem to continue that tradition with the KJ and the termination of the XJ. ;) later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Dec 2002 23:48:03 -0800 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: Re: 67 J3000 info A: If you're close to Seattle and want to update your axles, I have a SOA Dana 44 front 3.08 ratio RH drop (complete with easier to find disc brakes for $100.) I also have a set of 6 lug pattern 32/12/16 tires and rims to fit these axles for $100. I'm looking for a 4.10 Dana 60-2 rear axle from a J3000 (the 5 lug one, not 8 bolt full floater) I plan to convert it to 6 lug with Moser custom axles and use bigger brakes to be able to stop my 38" tires on my J10!
