Who could forget River Beast? But it wasn't Todd's rig even though he was the favorite to win. Remember? He broke his rig on Poughkeepsie Gulch and couldn't bring it to be measured. Remember the consolation prize we gave him? :) > I'm guessing the yellow one (the one that rolled at the end) would've > been taller, too. I have pics of that one, too. I would've thought he'd do well along with several others, but there were a lot of big rigs and it was a close contest. When I measured the rigs, as I recall the tallest was the grey one pictured in the URL above a few vehicles down the same row as JC (whose J10, Max, placed 3rd tallest and won Coolest Rig). Have a peek at John's website http://www.wagoneers.com/ouray/Ouray-Picnic.html and you'll see JC's J10, entry #3, middle of the first row. Next to it is Flint's wife Krista in a 77 Chero, next to which is Flint's 88 GW, next to which is Adam's 83 Wag Ltd. The grey rig, next to Adam's, #46 is the one I remember as tallest. Hopefully the guy who won tallest has a friend or two on one of these lists who can clue me in here. The SJ has the frame, and since it's older it has fewer restrictions, plenty of room to install a Diesel... TRUST me the roll down rear window is NOT a plus. ;) I love the rear window setup on the WJ. Been thinking about building the ultimate Jeep... (besides my SuperDawg project that's in work right now... ;) I'm thinking of an '86 and up (integrated heat/ac controls in redesigned dash), with either the old style barn doors, like on my '67 J100 panel, or some kind of new rear hatch like the WJs... dana 44 axles and either a 4.7L V8 with quadradrive or a Diesel engine with either Quadtrac or selectrac... ah yes... another dream... have to finish the first one first. ;) john At 10:59 PM 1/10/2003 -0600, Garrison St.Clair wrote: >John, > >Thanks fro taking the measurements. > >As we can see, the WJ has grater interior length, which was my criteria. >Given that is 67" at top of eat, its probably about 6' at cargo bed level. >And my memory is that the ZJ is a bit more. > >The three shortcomings of the WJ, in my opinion, are the: a) unibody; b) >non-retractable rear window; and, c) no manual transmission.
