I don't have time to run down to the warehouse to pick it up either, and then we'd have to figure out if you're local and can meet... so selling it on the net via my page/toll free number is the best for all involved. If you convert your entire XJ over to synthetics my "profit" is about enough to buy lunch. :) Basically I got into amsoil for reasons other then greed. ;) There are guys that make money at it, but they work for it. It's a multi-level marketing thing, but it's focus is on the product, not in selling motivational aids and t-shirts. ;) You can make money at it if you want, but you ain't gonna get rich unless you work really hard at it. Which is the way it should be I guess. So, offering a discount isn't feasible... Unless of course you sign up as a dealer... or preferred customer, then you can buy at the same cost... it makes sense if you're converting a rig 100%, axles, air filter, oil, tranny, etc... A few folks over the years from the lists have signed up and bought that way, and then let their dealerships lapse. If I weren't a lifetime dealer I doubt that I would have signed back up too. :) I don't think they offer the lifetime dealership any more. FWIW, I actually met the founder of Amsoil. It's been a while now, he's pretty old... He was a jet fighter pilot in Korea! That's how he learned about synthetics and decided to use 'em in cars. :) john At 06:06 PM 1/20/2003 -0500, Pete M. wrote: >John, >I'm going to be switching the engine in my son's 88 XJ soon and would >love to switch it over to Amsoil... >Are you offering an "XJ List Discount" like some of the other members >have on their products in the past? >Just wondering.. >Thanks, > Pete M > > "I don't care if you buy amsoil or not, if you do it'd be cool >if you bought it from me, but if you like your engine, get a good >synthetic, a true synthetic and follow it's recommendations. When driving with the lights on, all of the interior lights will become very bright for about a minute, & then the headlights will go out. The actual headlights fail. There are no blown fuses, & I don't believe any of the other lights burn out. When he replaces the headlights, they work normally for a period of time, & then the failure repeats itself. A cursory inspection of the headlight circuit did not show any problems. I'm thinking either there is a problem with the circuit that I missed (most likely) or possibly a bad voltage regulator. I'm having doubts that it could be the voltage regulator as I would think a bad regulator would cause other problems. Here are my questions: Could it possibly be the voltage regulator, & if so, how can I identify whether or not his truck has an external voltage regulator? If it does have an external regulator, where would it be located & how can I test it? I have a digital multi-meter. If it's a problem with the headlight circuit, is there a particular part of this circuit that is highly suspect? Joseph, if you're reading this post, you may want to elaborate on what I said. Hook up a voltage meter in the form of a gauge or an accurate multimeter (like your digital) to some power source. The 85's have ammeters not voltmeters as do the 86+ rigs otherwise this would be easier. You can also take the thing to autozone, checker/shucks/kragen etc and have the charging system tested. While you're at it, inspect the ground wires (not sure how this would cause the problem but bad ground = weird behavior). There's a large one from motor to body on passenger motor mount, a smallish (10ga) one from battery to body and the battery cable to a/c unit. Of course the interior lights aren't supposed to come on unless the doors are open or the interior dimmer is in the on position. Are the interior lights on only as a precursor to headlight failure? If so, there may be some other wiring problem. Maybe they are always on. Check the dimmer switch and maybe some of the wiring for the interior lights. Or are you simply talking about the dash lights? If they grow bright prior to headlight failure then yes, I'd definitely suspect the regulator. Michael ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1841 **************************
