I need the help of someone in the bay area familiar with Mercedes Benz Diesels. I'm trying to work out a trade with someone in the east bay area and his Mercedes has a few issues. What we need to do is figure out if the car will make it to Medford, Oregon so we can meet to trade. :) We suspect it has some bad injectors, at least that's the hope. Contact me off list at john-at-wagoneers.com if you know the 3.0L TD 5cyl, circa '84. :) Would help if you could take a few digital pictures of the car too... You'd be able to look at it this weekend, probably sunday... thanx, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2003 00:47:51 -0800 From: john Subject: fsj: Re: MB 300CD FS and the Saab that replaced it At 03:35 AM 1/29/2003 -0500, JoErnest-at-aol.com wrote: >The MB 300 CD is in Fremont, CA, again commuting daily between Fremont and >Pleasanton, over the Sunol Grade. >I hope some of you who are reasonably near will check it out for John. Need to have someone look at an '84 300CD in Fremont to see what it would take for it to drive to Medford, then Seattle... :) just another excuse to drive to Medford to meet up with another Californian, hopefully this time, if it happens, it won't be raining. ;) Like Joe said, cash wins over trades... same goes if anyone comes along to snag the '76 280Z. :) http://wagoneers.com/tmp/280Z Joe and I have talked about the vehicles, but the biggest challenges are twofold: 1) making sure the 300CD can make it to Medford, or figure out what's wrong and fix it well enough to make it to Medford so I can finish fixing it... and drive it the other 7 hours home. 2) if my wife's back will survive 7 hours in the 280Z... (swollen disk) just another one of those adventures that gear heads find themselves on... so we figured we'd get the help of a few of our closest internet friends to diagnose the Benz and patch it together to make the road trip to Seattle... any volunteers (that know MB Diesels in the bay area? ;) thanx, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2003 09:49:56 -0800 From: "Faith Jeff" Subject: fsj: trans compatibility question 80 into 90? hi all, does anyone know if a transmission from an 80 wag can bolt into a 90 gw? - -jeff so-cal 90 gw 63 wag This electronic message transmission, including any attachments, contains information from Prescription Solutions which may be confidential or privileged. Provided both rigs are equipped that way, it will bolt to the engine with no problem. The transfercase patterns should be the same, as should spline. If not, you could swap the output between the two without too much difficulty. The transfercases are not likely to be the same, and as such, changing transfercases would probably require a driveline adjustment. We've chosen Moab for the first ever Anniversary Celebration because it is such a popular wheeling destination, and it truly has something for everyone. A stock or near stock XJ can do most of the trails in Moab, and the scenery on every trail there is spectacular. There are also more challenging trails, and plenty of sightseeing to do with Canyonlands and Arches National Parks only minutes from town. Check out this link for more information about the event: http://www.naxja.org/events/moab2003/ > > Everyone with an XJ or MJ is invited to participate in this celebration, and it's a free event. Naxja is the sponsor of the event, but I'm hoping that other XJ groups will join in to make it a universal gathering of XJ's and MJ's. I'm also hoping that some other XJ groups will agree to participate by taking on one of the activities at the event. Activities will include a variety of runs everyday, some evening meals, a vehicle show with prizes, a vendor display, a large dinner gathering with award presentations, slide show, and a raffle. We are also giving away a built up XJ by selling tickets all year and drawing the winning ticket that night. > > The date of the 20th Anniversary Celebration is Oct 6-12. Now I realize that you all are planning an annual activity on the same date. I'm hoping that some of you on this list would like to join us, I would sure be glad to meet you, and I think this will be a great opportunity to meet people in person that we have only web wheeled with. If you like going to Moab, or have always wanted to go, this would be a very good time to go. > > Please make any comments or ask any questions you may have, > > Richard G > Event Coordinator > > Richard "goatman" Gauthier > rocknxj-at-pacbell.net > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > ................. October should be a good time... cooler... ;) Moab is a cool place... What's cooler is my wife won't object to my wheelin' my '87 xj there... ;) However, being unemployed right now I'm not sure what or where I'll be by then... may have to relocate. may have sold my xj by then, hopefully my J10 will be done by THEN. ;) john At 12:03 PM 1/29/2003 -0800, Phillips, Scott wrote: >This looks interesting: >Scott > >Richard Gauthier wrote: > > > I have been meaning to bring this up to the list so you all know about this >event, and I finally have a few minutes to talk about it.
