Can't remember what they're called... I would think you could remove the cover without removing the dash... if you were a contortionist. ;) Also, you may even need to remove the windshield to get the dash out... although it might be possible if you had the right tools... I suppose I could look in the shop manual, but I don't have time right now... maybe some one on the list can answer whether or not for sure the windshield has to come out. :) This could be why a lot of folks opt for those ugly carpet covers. ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 21:28:31 -0800 From: john Subject: Re: fsj: RE: the best lift, but AT WHAT PRICE? so, again, how much? $? :) At 02:51 PM 2/13/2003 -0800, Mike - G wrote: >If you're talking about the 4" Rusty's, I had a 4" Rusty's on my 78 >Chief with lots of fender trimming and 38x13 swampers: >http://www.mike-g.net/jeep/misc/sj4.jpg > >---- >mike-g-at-mike-g.net . http://www.mike-g.net/ >W6MKE >boom.boom.beep.beep >5.5" lift, 32" tires, 4.56's, gears, 1 locker >----- Original Message ----- >From: john >To: James Isennock ; ; >; >Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 2:35 PM >Subject: Re: fsj: RE: the best lift > > > > how much is the lift kit? will it fit a '79 WT Cherokee? > > > > john > > > > At 03:56 PM 2/13/2003 -0500, James Isennock wrote: > > >I like the Superlift Superride I have on my CJ. I put a 2" tach on my steering column. It sits next to a vacum gauge and a tranny temp gauge. I did a clean install of 1.5" gauges in the ashtrays, but anything bigger won't really fit. I've never seen a tach that small. I considered building a new glovebox door to mount gauges in since I didn't want to cut the stock one. It was gonna be a metal frame skinned with a thin oak plywood. I never got around to it. If your meaning prime the system with oil then an old distributor shaft and a drill should do the trick. You could probably cut off the handle of a big screwdriver to use to turn the oil pump too. Mine wonders all over the road I read a tech tip on fsja about tightening the adjusting screw on the top of the steering box that helped a little but it still doesn't feel like a regular streering truck. I was just wondering if there are parts that wear out regularly. seems like the ball joints and wheels bearings are all in good shape. any inpu would help.
