I took the front wheel off and went underneath with the weeping, leaking porta-power and managed to coax it to work and push from underneath while I beat the inner fender and fender into submission... :) Didn't even have to use a Full Size Jeep... still have to fix the rad support, but I think if I attached a chain and an FSJ to it and pulled there wouldn't be anything left on the car. ;) Anyway, on the first attempt the fender sprang back... so I did it again, this time from another angle and retightening the fender bolts at the same time... Looking at the mangled front end I'm not sure I can save the fender... Will have to wait to see if I can make the turn signal and headlight bucket fit in what's left of it. :) It's only $125 for a fender with the same color, it's paint is ok... not great, but at least with a bit of elbow grease I won't need to pay for repainting... but it's not a perfect fender... I may try to talk them down in price... The car will make someone a nice economical commuter rig so I'm working towards getting it functional and driveable. It's got too many minor TLC type issues to really spend the money to fix it right... nice thing is if someone wanted to, they will be able to. :) BTW, my wife came up with a great meaning for TLC... We were driving by a lifted '78 Wagoneer with a 401 and a sign that said needs "TLC"... She said... "takes lots of cash" :) Well, guess I'm going to call it a night... hope everyone had a nice memorial day weekend... My bald head is very sunburned... we had a few "sunbreaks" today... :) john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... The tail lights or emblems are the quickest way to tell Cherokee from Wagoneer. (there were some early Wagoneer 2 drs) As for transplants, I have a 4.0L with EFI under the hood of my (originally 258 with carb, but soon to be replaced with a 4.6L stroker and LPG) '84 J10 that looks stock along with a '95 AW4 automatic and NV241 (from www.JBconversions.com ) bolted to it so it also looks stock. I have a Ford Highboy front axle (already SOA and the details of bolting it in will be out soon in FSJ magazine) that looks stock and I put '76 J20 brakes on the front along with a '76 J20 rear axle (I even have the J20 emblems to put on) The only thing that won't look stock is the alloy wheels (and 36" tires if I can't get a swap going for taller skinnier ones) and the propane fuel system. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Ice Man Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 8:46 AM To: fsjeeps-at-smartgroups.com Subject: Re: [FSJeeps] Re: fsj: Jeep 327 to Chev 327 Well since I am not an expert on Jeeps, it was an older jeep 4 door 5 lug axles drum brakes on both front and rear. And oh sorry you are right it can't be a cherokee if it had 4 doors. I know it's not 74 since I have a 74 and it's much older. Anyway the point is, so many people transplant different things into the jeeps so there is no telling what it could have. I am putting a GM NP208 behind the AMC version of th400, it will look like stock but it isn't. :) IceMan _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 If you want to share pictures, use the calendar, or start a questionnaire visit http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/fsjeeps To leave the group, email: fsjeeps-unsubscribe-at-smartgroups.com ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #1937 **************************
