Until then AMC and Jeep used Chev/Pontiac 4 cyls or the Porsche engine (924 I believe) 2.0L for 4 cyls. LOTs of DJs got the Chev motor for postal/delivery use. BTW, the stroker is 4.0L block and pistons with 4.2L (258) crank and rods which makes 4.5L with stock bore. There are other modifications from there up and now they are pushing to make a 5.0L engine that will hold together (offset grinding the crank or a custom billet one and up to 120 overbore in a sonic tested block) From: john Subject: RE: fsj: to comanche or not At 08:57 AM 6/27/2003 -0700, Tesar Landon-r16884 wrote: >I thought they switched over from GM to AMC, but I didn't remember the >year.... If it's a GM, it's probably not running any more... the XJ came out with the 2.5L 4 cylinder AMC engine, they also offered the 2.8L V6 Chevy motor... in '87 they came out with the 4.0L. The 4.0L is an extension of the technology used in the 2.5L design, but incorporates much of what had been in the 4.2L (258). The strokers have figured out that the heads and cranks will interchange and you can create a 4.9L I-6 out of the mix and match approach. Several folks on the XJ list have done this, a few have had failures though, but most of them love it. :) john ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Jun 2003 14:55:57 -0700 From: "Jim B" Subject: fsj: sig file test So how does my sig file look now?
