A: Thursday night my ex-wife had to call her father to explain she didn't need him and an expen$ive wrecking crew to remove a huge (8' tall, 18' long and 4' deep) non-working freezer from her bakery because some yahoo with a big white truck with American plates backed up to the side door and threw in a chain lasso and dragged it out into the street! (Wonder who that could be? ) I pushed it back against the side of the building so it's out of the way (didn't think to get pics at the time) Some old chicken farmer is going to pick it up and re-use it somehow (I suggested an incubator) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Aug 2003 22:27:03 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: fsj: The Crazy Canuck Cowboy rides again! pictures would have been interesting... I used Old Blue to pull the rear end of a crunched buick back into shape... :) a chain and a hunk of iron... pulled it mostly into shape that way... biggest problem was keeping the car from following the Jeep... :) john At 03:55 PM 8/23/2003 -0700, Jim B wrote: >A: Thursday night my ex-wife had to call her father to explain she didn't need >him and an expen$ive wrecking crew to remove a huge (8' tall, 18' long and 4' >deep) non-working freezer from her bakery because some yahoo with a big white >truck with American plates backed up to the side door and threw in a chain >lasso and dragged it out into the street! That snap ring holds in a gear, a spring and a spring seat. I have a couple of pictures if you need them. Glad to hear that you finally got your GW back on the road. Now if you can just keep it there ;) Good luck, Curtis - ----- Original Message ----- From: "john" To: Sent: Friday, August 22, 2003 4:00 PM Subject: fsj: Q: brake job - 90 gw (fwd) > someone needs you on the fsj list. ;) > > john > > ---- > > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Faith Jeff > > hi folks- > > i'm having to do a front brake job on the 90 gw...i came home on a tow truck > on her first commute after the rebuilds on wednesday. the motor and trans > are fine, but i had a major hub/rotor problem resulting in the psgr front > wheel breaking off the wheel studs. the brake rotor flattened as i grinded > to a fiery stop. springs and ubolts and stuff appeared to take no damage. > the fenderwell has a new custom shape. > > Q: there are two grooves at the end of the axle shaft for the > self-locking-hub assembly in the D44...does the snap ring go on the > outer-most groove (where it's easy to attach), or do i have to pull the axle > shaft outward (and slide the hub stuff inward) to reach the snap ring onto > that inner groove? > > thanks, > jeff > so-cal ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Aug 2003 06:34:00 -0700 From: Tesar Landon-r16884 Subject: fsj: brake job - 90 gw Hi Jeff, sorry to hear about that. Did your bearings fall apart? You may be looking at a new/used/good hub/bearings/race as well. I have often wondered the same thing, but have always left the snap ring on the outer groove, allowing for whatever play the axle needs. I have a good spindle, cheap! if you want/need it. - - Landon - ------------------------- Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2003 11:48:40 -0700 From: "Faith Jeff" Subject: fsj: Q: brake job - 90 gw hi folks- i'm having to do a front brake job on the 90 gw...i came home on a tow truck on her first commute after the rebuilds on wednesday. the motor and trans are fine, but i had a major hub/rotor problem resulting in the psgr front wheel breaking off the wheel studs. the brake rotor flattened as i grinded to a fiery stop. springs and ubolts and stuff appeared to take no damage. the fenderwell has a new custom shape. Q: there are two grooves at the end of the axle shaft for the self-locking-hub assembly in the D44...does the snap ring go on the outer-most groove (where it's easy to attach), or do i have to pull the axle shaft outward (and slide the hub stuff inward) to reach the snap ring onto that inner groove? thanks, jeff so-cal ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2001 **************************
