Warm Streak is Record for Seattle The National Weather Service says Seattle has set a record for warmth. The agency announced Tuesday the city has had 50 consecutive days of temperatures in excess of 70 degrees. That eclipsed the last record of 49 days set in 1958. Forecasters predict the record will continue to be broken every day through the middle of next week with temperatures expected above 70 degrees through Thursday and in the 80s for the Labor Day holiday weekend through next Tuesday. Another record could also be shattered unless rains move into the region soon. So far, this is Seattle's second driest summer on record. :) john note: it's only 64 at 11am... hope the clouds move out of the way in time... ;) ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. If this is what I think it is, not too bad, a little messy though. You have to drop the fluid and the pan (need new gasket) - of course this is your opportunity to move up to a DEEP tranny pan like I did.....(uses a fluid intake extension and adds a couple of quarts to your fluid so even if you barely touch fluid with the dipstick, you know you are still OK.) Remove the filter, you need a new one, keep the old to compare to the new but after that, discard it. Several bolts hold the valve body to the tranny. I don't recall if there is a gasket between the valve body and the tranny, I don't think there is. The park lever is the only troublesome part of this job. It hangs up a bit but work with it and you should be OK. I think the lever shaft has a bolt or something inside to disconnect it from the valve body? I don't remember much on this part. It really wasn't that tough to do. Just be careful and keep the valve body as clean as you can. It helps to raise the front of the Jeep as much as you can. I used my heavy ramps and my creeper. Have plenty of floor dry ready for spills and wear your vinyl gloves and your eye protection! I have an '81 repair manual that might have some guidance if you need it. Let me know off line. I've never replaced the lever seal but it can't be that tough once the valve body is out of the way. You may want to take a good look before you drop the valve body and see if you can do it another way. - --Vince '81 Wagoneer - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tesar Landon-r16884" To: Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 8:17 AM Subject: fsj: Lever shaft seal on 727 > Hi, > > the trans shop wants $350 to pull and reseal the transmission, (and put it back) said one of the biggest offenders is the lever seal, and that this can be replaced with the trans in the truck by dropping the valve body.
