A: I was thinking about opening up both cases and seeing if you can attach the 4 high lock feature into the NP229. A lot of NV249 and NV242 people are moving parts between cases to get 4 high and 4 low lock and viscous coupled lo range. From: john Subject: fsj: RE: Looking for NP219 shop manual ... I like the 219, putting one in my '83 J10 Stepside behind a '96 4.0L/AW4 with a custom adapter... I don't like the 229 because of that coupler and no lockup in 4wd high, I'm pretty sure it locks in low range though... the 228 is a better unit from what I've heard... but not having lockup in 4wd high is not a good thing... I'll look around for my manual, not sure if I have one for the 219, but do have a few pages in the factory manual about them. johnGet more from the Web. "Jim B" said: {- http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/new2004/2004NewProdBroch.pdf When I called Edelbrock just a month or two ago, they said they didn't have anything like this for the AMC. So it's definitely a new product. Probably ok with Edelbrock, esp. since they already had systems like this for other engines, but it could still be considered 1st-gen (i.e., risky). Also, their other pro-flo systems seem to run in the $2000-2600 range, mostly around $2500. So you'll definitely pay for it. OTOH, Holley's throttle-body series is still $1300 or so, and that's just a throttle body setup. These are multi-point and include the new intake manifold and everything. (Just a good 4bbl intake manifold with emissions will be another $250.) And I'd certainly trust Edelbrock over Holley; I'll never buy another Holley after all the problems (and money!!) their faulty unit cost me. I'm still trying to get final details worked out with the guy at customefis.com . Good system, but he's pretty busy at the moment. (Similar throttle body setup like the Holley system, with the difference that his actually works and is several hundred dollars cheaper.) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We turn ourselves in now, they'll give us twenty years in the electric chair! -- Mother - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Nov 2003 12:57:36 -0800 From: john meister Subject: fsj: FSJ/XJ toys and parts on ebay http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/dieseljohn/ I may not have everything up on ebay yet, see also: http://www.wagoneers.com/ebay/ and http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/PARTS/ (some XJ parts as well) I've got two FSJ grilles (60/70's and a '78) and a 360 V8 Radiator. Look what Edelbrock has done for our AMCs! What about those new shorty headers for the 360? I know alot of you aren't big fans of headers but will these ones be any better than the typical heddman, etc alternatives. I am looking at putting them on my propane converted daily driver which is also my travel trailer tow vehicle in the summer months. I don't want to give up any low end torque as compared to the stock exhaust manifold setup. I have all the pollution control devices removed from my engine, including the AIR system and catalytic converter. Any thoughts. comments or experience with these shorty hedders?
