I thought only GM had those? The Ford axle should be Dana 60 rear and D44 front. (closed knuckle too!) I have the whole frame with axles in my back yard from a '75 F250 4x4. Are the Ramcharger axles 5, 6 or 8 lug rims? However looking at the picture it is plain to see that thjere are no such provision on ther piece pictured. The original Jeep Edelbrock header that has been available fore the past few years does indeed have AIR tubes. and ithey are [or were] only offered Coated. The part number for those headers is #6881. The part number for the 3 new headers is 6581 for Nickle,65810 for Black , 65812 for Ceramic coat. It looks as if maybe Edelbrock took my suggestion from 2-3 years ago, [or someones] and moved to offending tube on the existing Jeep header and created this new header which will indeed fit the big Wagons, certain CJs, and most all our AMC cars chassis. The old part number 6881 was listed as fitting the Fulkl Size Jeep only. I have hope that in Edelbrocks scramble to make the SEMA show and the 2004 updates to their web site, that the ''all 50 state.... A.I.R. tube... info is not 100% correct. While I have no problem with Smog laws, I certainly do not want smogged headers for a car that does not need them. The fellow I know using the old number [modified] has those on a very trick 1969 Javelin that has 1970 style suspension. This car has very many real trick custom tips. Mike Bell of Longview owns the car. I spoke with him yesterday to see how the engine I built him was doing. He had just returned from one of the Good Guy's Shows that feature Hot Rods and Customs. At this show they had a track to take your cars on if you pleased. Mike said the Indy Headed, Crane Hydraulic Roller cammed, 450 H.P , 9.2 compression pump gas engine performed flawlessly. He said the car had power to spare that he has never owned a car with this much power. Now, mind you, we dynoed this engine with normal headers since our dyno shop did not have exhaust that would hook up to the Shorty header Mike now has on the car. In fact, Mike has made many changes and to be honest at this point, H.P. output is a guess at best. Since the enginme was built and installed in the car., it hass had the Indy single 4 intake swapped for Cross Ram and Demon carbs. The Electronic MOPAR Distributor has been replaced with the Electromotive Tech 4 distributorless ignition. Mike is prepping for some wild cross ram EFI set up, the distributorless ignition was installed to help facilitate this. If you ever get a chance to see this car in person, look it over very closely. There are more little tricks that you do not notice unless you are really looking. This car is done more in a Street Rod type theme that Race car or Resto car. Hidden Wiper motor, Richmond 5 speed under the stock looking AMC Hurst shifter. 4 wheel disc. Coil over 70 style front suspension. Slider on the rear springs, Hidden CD behind the factoort radio block off plate., big bore Trendsetter side pipes. All AMC group 19 wing, spoiler, & early power bulge T/A type hood. This just hits the easy to see stuff. car is BBB/White interior, White ''C'' stripe for 1969 Javelin. This car was built at CHUCCI ROD & CUSTOM in Longview Texas, they build rods from anything and everything. Bob Chucci owner. [pronounced as Chuckys'] Opps, sorry, got off track of the original subject. Jim, I think Edelbrock redesigned the Shorties is why they are now listed to fit more than just the Full Size Jeep. I won't argue that these things would/not look nice under the hood, but part of the deal with headers is to make the exhaust gas travel effort equivalent between the cylinders. This is a combination of velocity, area, temperature, wall surface, length, turns and transitions. I don't get the impression looking at these that such criteria is considered. I think the order of objectives was: 1. Fit. 2. Appearance 3. Quality 4. Cost 5. Performance. My personal order is more like: Performance, Cost, Quality, Fit, Appearance. - - Landon ==================== Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2003 08:17:06 -0800 From: "Dalan Hawker" Subject: fsj: RE: [FSJparts] Oooh baby! Look what Edelbrock has done for our AMCs! What about those new shorty headers for the 360? I know alot of you aren't big fans of headers but will these ones be any better than the typical heddman, etc alternatives. I am looking at putting them on my propane converted daily driver which is also my travel trailer tow vehicle in the summer months. I don't want to give up any low end torque as compared to the stock exhaust manifold setup. I have all the pollution control devices removed from my engine, including the AIR system and catalytic converter. Any thoughts. comments or experience with these shorty hedders? (Also has a simple one to just convert ci to L.) But now I've done some tweaks to make the page entirely self-contained, which means somone could easily copy it to their own local machine or server and it will look and work exactly the same as when loaded from my site. And more imporantly, I've added some presets, so you can choose an engine and it will automatically fill in the factory specs for that engine. Right now I just have the AMC 232, 258, 304, 360, and 401. I will likely add some Ford engines in the near future. If anybody would like to add others and is absolutely sure of the factory specs, feel free to send them to me. I need the engine name (preferably a short name, like the ones already on the list), bore, stroke, and number of cylinders.
