It's in good condition overall, but seems to take an inordinately long time for the water temp to warm up and reach what i think would be normal operating temperature. Ambient temps here lately have been in the 30's F. It takes about 15 minutes or so for the temp gauge to reach ~180d F. Oil pressure shows around 70lbs. Could this be an issue with the water pump? What's normal time to reach and indicate mid-range operating temps? Your insight and advice will be appreciated. Thanks. You either have the 4.0L I-6 or the 5.2L/318 cu in v8. I would check the thermostat. You have the Jeep model ZJ. The Full Size Jeeps are the SJ model. The last normal production run of the Grand Wagoneer (SJ) was 1991, there were 4 1992 models produced, the last one is in a museum in Reno, NV. ttyl, john > Hi FSJer's: > > I'm new to this list and have a question about a 93 Grand Wagoneer I just > bought for my daughter. I'm on a WJ Grand Cherokee list, but again, the ZJ owners don't have much in common with that model either. The ZJ ran from '93 until '98, used the 4.0L/5.2L and 5.9L. I've never felt any attraction for them. :) You could get wonderful info from the Dodge lists though, similar drivelines... Dakotas for the 5.2/5.9. Of course the 4.0L in the ZJ is the same as the XJ of similar years... You could sell it and buy a real Grand Wagoneer... or get a newer ('99 and up) Grand Cherokee and join the WJ list. :) I started the XJ list on this server as well, 4.0L questions are welcome... this list doesn't do the 4.0L, we never got that modern of an engine... of course I'm putting one in my '83 J10, but I straddle the XJ and SJ lists on that one. ;) Happy hunting... oh, the WJ list is on yahoogroups??? not sure, it's all set on autopilot, it comes in... I look, I delete... :) ttyl, john > Hi John, > > Well, darn...I'm bummed ;-) I've briefly enjoyed the style and quality of the > FSJ list. Thanks for this kind reply, though. A: Don't know why I forgot about that! The Ford I pulled my '84 J10's D44 SOA front axle from had that setup. (BTW, the axle bolted right in, and yesterday I drove to Canada to get my new Over the Top Industry's http://www.ottindustries.com high steer arms. I'm doing the install writeup and taking photos for FSJ magazine this week. There were a few issues that needed dealing with) The parts were still there last time I looked. From: Brazzadog-at-aol.com Subject: fsj: Re: Parts hunt, any ideas to help this guy? Ford used a similar setup for a short while and then abandoned it because it was problematic. If memory serves, it was only used on the '76 F-250 4x4, but it may have been other years and models as well. I've heard of a few people that have found the parts to repair them but the general consensus is that it's easier to use a conventional power steering setup. In the case of F-series pickups, it's probably easier to convert to a Ford 4x4 power steering gear, but I've seen more than a few with a Saginaw power steering gear. I would recommend the Saginaw steering box because they are plentiful, relatively cheap, and you can use '70s Jeep parts to make the swap. I would recommend fitting a Borgeson or Flaming River intermediate steering shaft to the end of the steering column shaft and then tying into the Saginaw box. Since you (should) have a Dana 44 front axle you may be able to tie the pitman arm to the drag-link with no modifications at all.
