From: "Bill Crone" Subject: fsj: 93 Grand Wagoneer - very slow to warm up Hi FSJer's: I'm new to this list and have a question about a 93 Grand Wagoneer I just bought for my daughter. It's in good condition overall, but seems to take an inordinately long time for the water temp to warm up and reach what i think would be normal operating temperature. Ambient temps here lately have been in the 30's F. It takes about 15 minutes or so for the temp gauge to reach ~180d F. Oil pressure shows around 70lbs. Could this be an issue with the water pump? What's normal time to reach and indicate mid-range operating temps? Your insight and advice will be appreciated. Thanks. Very interesting. I've been thinking that if I can't sell my '78 F-250 I ought to keep the drive train to put under the Bronco or the Cherokee. Maybe the Cherokee would be a better choice than I realized. I wonder how many Cherokees can boast a 3/4 ton Ford drivetrain? 400/C6/NP205 and 8-bolt axles with dual piston front calipers... Yeah, that's it, see, then I could swap the Cherokee axles under the Wagonner and get rid of the Dana 30 with the closed knuckles. Ahhhh, I love it when a plan comes together. Now I've gotta figure out how to get my wife a raise so I can re-wire the garage and get a welder. Gotta get busy, busy, busy... Are you installing that on the stock Ford knuckles? I saw you had some flat-top knuckles for sale so I assume you won't be using those.
