I own 5 vehicles that are apparently too old to have a 17 digit id number. I have one that probably qualifies, but I don't want to sell it. Same with the previously written off F150 that Bellevue Ford tried to foist on her w/o the proper paperwork! My walking into the middle of the crowded showroom and announcing I wanted to talk to the manager that wouldn't let her return it less than 24 hours later got FAST results! I had the OWNER come out there and the pukebrain dude who refused the return was finally FIRED. SOB even told the owner it was a cut and dried sale as is whereis. I pointed out they neglected to mention the fact it had been written off and repainted and I had the proof in hand (from State Patrol) and photos of the overspray and bent springs, scuffed tires from bad alignment. If I pushed it, they could have lost their business license. I may end up doing something similar with the Subaru my wife bought (we have proof of excessive previous damage that wasn't claimed and poorly fixed) From: Mike Polkki Subject: Re: fsj: free carfax you should call them on that $5,000 guarantee- that is actually only 10% of the wholesale value up to $5,000 carfax is useless but you should see how many I sell at the car lot. We charge $39.95 for doing one- which is like $20.00 for the actual report then a $20 service fee. which is 5 minutes on the computer and printing it out. pretty sad really but I sold 2 last week. and we even tell people that they are pretty useless. we try to show them the actual title for the car but they still want a carfax. I do recommend that you run a free one and print it out when you have a chance though because if you do to sell a vehicle it is a good selling point to some people.. You know that would look cool on the Wagoneer. BUT, I guess the question is can it be made to fit with a reasonable amount of work. I've seen an article on fitting an early 70's grille onto a newer truck, but I don't have anything on that one. Anybody have a link or personal experience? Thanks, Matt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2004 17:55:44 -0800 (PST) From: Greg Loxtercamp Subject: Re: fsj: Rhino Chaser Grille The rhino grill will go on easily on any jeep....I think. The front clip is essentially the same all the way through. Although, it may not be painted the same as the exterior color...as it was behind the grill...don't know. I think the mounting hole are there in the front hole (you need those sheetmetal clip on nuts for mounting). You also need the round headlight buckets & rings from the same vehicle or a CJ (they are the same). To do it right, you also need the hole covers for the hole between the grill and lights...or prepare to mount some driving lights there...which would be cool! I had a 1979 Wagoneer, and was thinking about doing the same thing before I got rid of it. In 1979, at least the Wagoneer, got square headlights. Not that this is a show stopper, but the round CJ headlight rings wouldn't fully cover the square holes. You could also see the AC equipment behind the grill...again not a show stopper. I seem to recall another problem with the turn signals. You need to mount these in the clip verses on the grill as was the case in later models (including my '79). To prepare for the project, I got the front part of the front clip, the grill, the headlight buckets and rings. But, then got rid of the Jeep and the big clip...and moved to MN. I still have the grill and the buckets/lights/rings...never did get the access hole covers. I was thinking that this would make some nice garage art...but never did anything with them. Everything is there. It looks like you can just unbolt the metal on the sides of the grille that holds the headlight buckets. Is that right? The cool part about this one is that it has all its parts, like the headlights, trim, and a nice grille and even the blockout plates for the inner holes. Think $200 sounds reasonable for it?
