You may have the LBS thing happening in the pressure regulator. (Little bit of S#!t) From: "Neal Hoover" Subject: fsj: motor priming so, the motor is back together and on an engine stand, and i went to prime it today to ward off internal rust until it gets put back in the truck. as i was priming it (with a shop-made tool on the end of a drill), i noticed a "clicking" sound coming from the inside the oil pump. not very loud, but it's there. is this normal? also, no way you would hear it over normal engine noise. btw, i did a good inspection of the pump when it was apart, and it seemed ok. i also did the measurement from the housing to the top of the gears like it says to do in the FSM, and that checked out ok, too. thanks! There IS the end of a tall concrete sign that is unlit, and unprotected by a curb, and is built IN the parking lot, geez that's dumb. I'm not sure what stage of grief I'm in. Anyway, I need a driver's rear quarter panel(white?), and the woodgrain, and the rear marker light, and maybe the woodgrain surround. What's it like to change out a quarter panel? I reparked and tried it again, and, it was easy to see how it happened. I put in a claim w/ those guys, mostly in an effort to get them to redesign the parking lot, I have low expectations of any action at all. They have to make it visible here. I've dealt with CSK's insurance (took 2 tries and got one DM fired for fraud when my parked truck was hit by his wife in CO. Too bad it wasn't the one that decided I didn't deserve a raise after 3 years of working for the company and going from cashier to First Assistant Manager) I was going to pop rivet the rear 1/4 from the '84 GW I parted onto Elmo, but sold the truck before I got to it (I prefer my Jtruck, althought there are times I wish it was a crew cab! I designed a "Hitch-Hiker TM" unit to sit behind the cab for those times when you have a long trip and need more passenger space. Complete with steps to get in and out) Landon wrote: Backing out of my parking space at the Retard (I mean Advance) Auto Parts store, I had a curb on my left, and a car on my right, so had to back up straight, past the curb, then forgot to turn the wheel, hey there's no car behind me, but BONK,Crash. It looks like it might have been out at one time, so maybe if someone rebuilt it they used ATF instead of oil? I dunno, it's an '80 and the manual as well as the Haynes both say 10W30. Think it's safe to just dump the ATF and flush out with some oil, or should I stick with the ATF, and if so, what kind?
