My son is still sort of planning on buying our 250,000 mile plus '87 XJ, but is lamenting the sale of his Full Size Jeep... and I'm not terribly excited about the prospect of him buying our only functional Jeep at this point in my budget... I simply can't replace it with the same thing... ;) So, is there anyone out there has either an FSJ or an XJ that would survive a road trip from Seattle to Tucson that's for sale for around $1,500? :) A six cylinder FSJ would be more highly desired... (fuel costing what it does and all... consider the young Airman's budgetary limitations... ;) And since he wants me to come along for the adventure, please let it have air conditioning... A: My '88 Commanche shortbox will be a bit more than that (asking $3,000), but with what I've done to it the value will be there! '88 2WD converted to 4x4 and not even offroaded yet. 4.0L with 125,000 miles on it. Freshly done head (gasket was starting to weep due to bad rad) New open system rad. No AC, but I have all the parts for it in an '88 XJ parts rig. AW4 automatic with NP242 transfercase. 3.73 gearing with SOA D35 rear and 4 1/2" front lift with good quality coils. 33/9.50/15 tires. I even have a CD stereo to go with it! (I need to get the faceplate from the auction yet) It has tilt steering with power brakes, sliding rear window (too bad the canopy I have is too long for it!) It's part of a set that I don't want to break up. It comes with a speaker bracket and factory radio. It's the only original speaker bracket I've ever found. I think there is supposed to be another piece to the bracket, but I'm not sure. I was going to put it on e-bay soon.
