It has bellhousing holes already in it so it can bolt to the stand AND be able to crank over. If you use the 4.0L bellhousing, you will need to use the starter and flexplate/flywheel as well. The offset is different because of the EFI ring on the 4.0L. From: Jeep Nut Subject: Re: fsj: Re: head checks heh, heh, heh, Trade you an SJ frame for it. ;-) Actually I have the bellhousing for a 4.0l laying around. Maybe I'll just pull the rest of the doghouse off the '87's frame (its coming off anyway) and set it back in there with a block under the b/h long enough to do some checks.... ah, delays, delays, ... But I think in the long run it's the best idea to check this thing out well before I go through the process of yanking the engine out of the daily driver... From: Jeep Nut Subject: Re: fsj: installing freeze plugs OK, since Jim is the only respondent and recommends against, I dropped into the "real" NAPA store (local headquarters/warehouse) down in Minfus and they had the pop-in plugs. 1.5"/38mm. Now wondering... do you use a sealant on these? Hi Temp RTV? Permatex? or should they be installed dry? Thanks all! Just spoke with in person the local Edelbrock rep about the AMC products. The same products they told everyone they were making and would be released in April, May, & June. Guess what??/ NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THE PRODUCTS, ALUMINUM HEADS, HEADERS, OR EFI IS EVEN ON A PRODUCTION SCEDULE!!!!!!!!!! In my opinion[I believe I am entitled to one] this is Chicken Shit marketing on their part. Edelbrock parades parts to the public last November, sends out advertising to every auto publication they can detailing the products, then they send flyers out stating the parts will be released in April, May , & June of 2004, all the while the products do not even have a spot on the Edelbrock production scedule. Edelbrock has to be the worlds worse about this SAME exact type of Chicken Shit [in my opinion]marketing ploy. They pulled this crap on the Ford 428 heads. It was 13 months AFTER they said they were going to be released before aqnyone could get any. They also pulled the same stunt on the GM, LS1 Intake deal except it was 22 months before anyone could get one of those. Why build a FEW parts , Parade then around, Advertise heavily, PRINT and send our releases WHEN YOU KNOW !!!!!!your company is not even working on the parts ????? Has anyone at Edelbrock ever taken a class on ETHICS????? Whoever at Edelbrock that dreamed up this Marketing PLOY, should be run off. In my Opinion. This type of UINETHICAL [in my opinion] practice does not help the AMC Hobby, nor the Automotive hobby in general. All it does is cost folks MONEY and TIME that they spend trying to get what the company is not even producing. Many AMCers have bought and paid for these pieces thru some mail order houses. They were told in February the parts would be shipped in about 3 weeks. They have been told this over and over now for months,........ and Edelbrock does not even have the parts in the production scedule.
