A: They are hardened bolts and any Mopar dealer or trans shop should have them. Does anyone know the size of the torque converter bolts for a '82 Waggy w/ a 360 and a TF727? If I can just finding a matching thread size, is there anything else special about them? I'm reassembling a waggy that I bought and it's missing these bolts so I'm going to run out in the morning and try to find replacements... My list for tomorrow: Put gas tank back in Put tranny/transfercase in Install driveshafts Put carb back in Reinstall starter and wire it and new sylenoid Paint the new floorboards and reistall seats Reinstall rear window Find all rear brake hardware and redo the brakes Man, it's going to be a busy day!!! Yep, spent some time at the auto parts store today to find out that they didn't have any. Guess I'll be heading to the stealership tomorrow and ordering some up... Of course it's been raining on and off all day today. I had the tranny almost ready to put the bellhousing bolts in and it started raining again!!! I painted the grill all black last night and reinstalled it and it looks pretty good. I called the dealership this morning and they can get the torque converter bolts by Wednesday. Nobody else in town could even order them. They'll be a total of $10 or so for all four... Not too bad I guess.. Made a little more progress on it tonight. Bolted all the seats in and hooked up the power adjustments... Started wiring the new starter solenoid and stuff. Tomorrow I'm picking up a tranny jack and the neighbor is going to come over and we're going to finish reinstalling the tranny. Guess I should introduce myself to the group since I just kinda jumped in and started asking questions... I bought a '79 CJ-5 back around '97 and that got me hooked. I wheeled and drove that as a daily driver for about a year and the 304 threw two connecting rods through the block. I then tore it apart and built a new motor for it and worked on it on and off for about 2 years. I eventually got tired of messing with it and realized that no matter what I did to it, the frame and body was still beyond repair, and I wanted to upgrade just about every other piece of drivetrain so I got rid of it in favor of building a low mileage '99 XJ that I could drive back and forth to the trail with family and camping gear onboard and be comfortable. I put a 4.5" RE lift on it, 33" Super Swamper SX's and wheeled the crap out of it, but eventually got to the point that I was breaking stuff often enough that I bought a GM 3/4 ton conversion van as a tow rig. Now I was defeating the purpose of having a daily driver XJ and I would rather have something easier to modify and something I could take the top off of, so I got rid of the XJ and bought a '92 YJ... I had it for a couple of months and had the internal clutch slave cylinder start leaking and figured that I was going to do something permanent about this problem, so I started putting in a GM TBI 4.3/700R4/NP231 in it, and then found J20 D44/D60 axles and did a spring over. I still have alot of small things to finish on that before it's ready for the trail, but it's getting close and I can actually fire the motor up now... So now on to why I'm on this list. I have decided that I'm sick of winters and mud in my Chevy conversion van, so it was time to get another tow rig. This Waggy is one that my buddy bought a couple of years ago and has been collecting parts for that whole time. He already replaced the floorboards all the way through and it seems pretty solid. It came with just about every part I need to put it back together, most of them being new, I just get to have the fun of reassembling something that someone else took apart :-) Anyway, here's a few pics of it when I drug it home from St Louis to Iowa: http://www.iowa4wd.com/forums/modules.php?set_albumName=album06&op=modload&n ame=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php Now that I've typed way too much, I guess I'll go to bed and dream of this waggy being done...
