The can holders got a little bent sometime before '98, as I sure didnt' do it. Bolts to the body, holds at least a 33" tire ok. cost: $40, plu shipping 2 FSJ roof racks, decent shape, ie nothing jumps out at me cost: $15 ea, plus shipping one FSJ dash, out of a 78 or 78 Cherokee, havent' decided which one to gut yet. cost: $30? plus shipping one Quadratrac, needs differential, and minor reassembly if I don't get to it. This one will not have reduction unit, I'm swapping it onto MY reduction-less Qtrac, which is why it might need reassembly. I promise everything will be there, and the TSM makes it easy. Or I might get to it LOL.. baby's coming awfully soon though. Cost: $50 plus shipping, email w/questions one set of NT axles: make me an offer one rear seat, southwestern pattern, blue, grey, and black: cost $20, cuz it's a little dirty black interior parts: what do you need? make offer, cheap I guess. Door panels have holes cut for speakers. Razor grill in decent shape, w/headlight bezels: cost, $40 molding, all the chrome on the roof edges: make offer if you need it brush guard: $80, probably need to be rewelded if you want it shipped, or devise an alternative LOL the mounts go way under the frame, making it tough to ship. there's other stuff too, I just cant' think of it. I'd be willing to meet someone 1/2way from CO/ID/WY if need be. No hurry on deciding, it will be stored in the garage indefinitely. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2004 00:07:06 -0700 From: john meister Subject: fsj: Re: 1969? Confusing!) You want the 42RE trans, but the valve body has to be from a '93 to '88 Mopar with the same trans because the valve body is hydraulic instead of computer controlled. I would beef it up a bit but not with the super duty racing clutches (they aren't meant for 4 wheeling) You will need to take the 6 cyl flexplate for a 9XX series trans and have it balanced to your motor, or if you are rebuilding, rebalance the whole works as a unit. The driveshafts and trans crossbar will need adjusting as it's a bit longer (I don't have one to measure yet, but I think the 6 cyl driveshafts for the matching FSJ may be a bolt in as the rear is 5" shorter and front is -at-5" longer) NOTE: I would do this for a daily driver, but not a tow rig as the trans is not quite as strong as a 727. In fact, the AW4 may be stronger (Lexus uses them with their turbo V8 and diesel SUVs) but the computer controlled shifting is a drawback and no-one has built a stand alone unit yet. If you go with the electronic AW4 trans, you can modify the sensors needed to work with the trans and a carbed motor. You need to hook up a bracket for the TVS cable (it goes loose as the throttle goes down. Opposite of most passing gears) and a TPS (Throttle Position sensor) as well as a transmission computer and harness from a pre '97 XJ or ZJ. (not sure exactly when they were combined with the whole engine computer, but '97 was for sure) The main part you will need is a VSS (speed sensor) from a '93 Grand Cherokee (only year that I know of with a VSS AND speedo thru cable). Then there is the wiring, which I have not got to yet on my own (putting '90 XJ wiring harness and EFI in my '84 J10 with a stroker 6 and AW4 with NV241 transfercase) Selectrac in a ZJ means it has a NV242 transfercase ('91 up AW4s and Mopar 4.0L trans are 23 spline, but the depth of the output gears are up to 7/8" different) I'm cc'ing the different lists I'm on to get more feedback. I got my trans info from a trans specialist on the AMC-list who has done the 2WD version swap already. From: "Seely, Jeremiah J AT2 (WING AIMD)" Subject: RE: Re: OT ZJ Q: From what you said below, you lead me to believe that the tranny in my '97 ZJ (with the 4.0L I-6) will bolt up to the 401 in my '77 Wagoneer. If this is true, will it handle the increased power from the 401 and the weight load of the Wagoneer? Right now I still have the BW 1339 T-case and have been looking for options to get rid of it. The chain is stretched and I really don't want to swap it out again. I like the T-case in my Grand Cherokee and wouldn't mind having the same thing in the Wagoneer, if it'll hold up. I'm not sure what the number is on the T-case, it just says Selec-Trac on it. Any suggestions?
