PLEASE SAVE IT!!! Yeah, that's right, free roller, yeah yeah. Thanksgiving is the cutoff, after that I HAVE TO get rid of it. It will be this, and no more: frame, dash, body shell, bumpers, axles, gas tank, and the nice new tires and rims. No doors, tailgate, glass, motor, trans, t-case, front clip, steering gear, engine harness. But it's 2door! Otherwise I'm going to gank the tires and cut off the rear panels and crush it. I would keep it but I don't have room. Anyone interested please, please get in touch. It's killing me to have to part with it. Just bought a '91 Grand Wagoneer. We live in N. VA, and bought it in Ithaca, NY. The girl we bought it from said the AC blew cold, but it just never got warm enough in Ithaca for her to know any different. Anyway, long story short, the condenser leaks like a sieve when the system is charged with dye and compressed air. It definitely needs a new condenser, and probably a new dryer, as well. My question is if anyone has upgraded to 134 (because R-12 runs about $60 per can, and the GW needs 5 cans to charge to pressure) or used R-406a or FR-12? From this site: http://www.autofrost.com/oil/index.html , it looks like 406a would be the way to go, and a lot cheaper than a conversion to 134. http://www.autofrost.com/autodisc.pdf offers a good primer on auto A/C, and gives the pitch for 406a and their brand Autofrost (which is actually a blend). Anyway, I'm not planning on making the repair until the spring (because the 4/45 AC has been working fine for me and it's free and above 90 days are gone), but I want to get as much information as I can before I save an extra $250 for R-12 if it isn't necessary. No firm schedule, seems to be a couple weeks out when we talk. I mentioned the fan shroud, the response: "How much will that cost?" "Will it still make it to Tuscon without it?" Probably, I don't recommend it....may want to flush the cooling system first, they've got these really cool flush machines, I think do an excellent job.
