(were those Diesels?) (My concern is overheating and undue stress on an expensive driveline... I could probably buy an XJ for what it would cost to repair my Mercedes Benz Diesel transmission.... :) these are some shots of my J10 trailer with the XJ... there was a yard of gravel in the trailer at one point, notice how low that box is sitting... that's a half ton pickup bed from a full size jeep sitting nearly on it's bumpstops. :) was trying to find a picture with my benz in it.. (MLC). :) http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/xj-trailer-loaded-at-home.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/yard-before-bobcat.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/up-to-unload.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/waiting-for-rain-to-clean-trailer.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/supervisor-under-cover.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/compost-dump.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-September/loaded-with-gravel.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/2004/a-day-in-August/xj-pipes-2.jpg of course this is what I pull with my Full Size Jeeps: ;) http://www.wagoneers.com/.images/18wheels.jpg cool pictures Andreas! My '83 GMC Jimmy with a tired 6.2L Diesel does better... in town and towing my trailer! The '99 WJ does better than this little Ford, and that was crossing a 4,000 foot pass in full time 4wd! I almost ran out of gas in new hampshire... about the time I was taking a picture of the Moose Crossing sign. :) I think it averaged about 18mpg according to the computer. My son's '87 XJ gets 20 to 21 mpg on the freeway... and almost all of this adventure was open highway, gentle hills and light traffic. My benz would have done mid to upper 30's. Beautiful countryside, even though it was pretty bare. Only at the 42nd parallel... interesting... thats around the same level as southern oregon, northern california... (the 45th parallel is on the north edge of Salem, OR) Well, missions accomplished... both... (set the server up on Friday, minor tweaking left on Monday - the reason for me to be here.) And the second; I visited all the new england states in one day... and met up with two folks from the lists... MA, RI, CT, VT, NH, ME --- all in one day. :) so, that leaves just Alaska and Louisiana that I haven't been to. I'm happy to not go to the latter, but am already researching the AlCan highway... :) Trying to figure out which vehicle to use or build. ;) Anyone travelled the Alcan in the last few years? Looks like September might be a good time to drive the Alcan... will probably take the ferry back to Seattle... only know two folks that have driven it... :) later, john '91 300d 2.5l TD '99 WJ 4.0L '83 GMC 6.2L '83 J10 stepside 4.0L ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2005 00:13:35 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Transmission and transfercase info links http://www.drivetrain.com/ look up your vehicles drivetrain. http://www.drivetrain.com/transilljeep_ba10.html Early XJ/MJ 4.0L 5 speed trans ------------------------------ End of fsj-digest V1 #2341 **************************
