I've been paying for this site out of my own pocket for several years, can't really justify the expense any more. If I rehost it I would want it on a Linux/UNIX system so I could ssh in and run apache. If you have a place to host my site, please let me know what you would charge. It's has about 4 gig of files on it right now... log files can be viewed at: http://wagoneers.com/john/logs/ One option is to offer subscriptions to cover the cost of the server, I suppose advertising is always an option too, although both are a lot of extra work. I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to pay to access the site anyway, unless I put more effort into it. Lots of folks have offered to make contributions, and a few have, but it just doesn't feel right to me to operate it that way. The sticker sales do not cover the costs of operating the site... I'm not sure they've covered the cost of printing at this point. :) This is a hobby gone out of control, not a business. I've got a handful of folks interested in purchasing the domain, the highest offer so far is $1,000. Of course that didn't include the FSJ logo/stickers with the domain name on it, or content. I'm open to ideas, suggestions, offers... thoughts... I probably should get a different domain name since I don't just cover Full Size Jeeps anymore, but Diesel Benz, XJ Cherokees, WJ's, UNIX/Linux and so on... thanx for the feedback so far, I'm sure the technical content I've gathered over the years will remain on the internet somewhere... I've been trying to resize images, remove unnecessary gunk and clean things up in preparation of moving/downsizing. :) The FSJ, XJ and DieselBenz lists will of course continue on without interruption... And of course I still have an inordinate amount of material gathered for a book on the full size jeeps... :) later, john please email me at dieseljohn-at-comcast.net about this. ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2005 18:19:01 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: fsj: OT - linux hosting with shell access? started looking at different hosting solutions... any cheap hosting sites that offer shell (ssh) access? The other thing I need is spam control... that's my main motivation for moving right now... that and the cost. Got stuck in the back yard today... almost went over the hill. :) sure miss having a working full size jeep or cherokee around, the gmc jimmy just isn't a jeep... and my wife won't let me attach that J10 trailer to her jeep... ;) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2005 22:05:55 EST From: Smokey99908-at-aol.com Subject: Re: fsj: wiring harnesses nope, but this may help after you find it..Tom 'Oljeep' Collins FSJ Wiring Page ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2005 20:25:52 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Re: wiring harnesses Last I checked, http://www.zmjeeps.com was doing them up.
