Has to be a typo or something. NP207 is part time. Can't drive on dry pavement in 4x4 without bindup. NP228 and NP229 can be driven in 4 hi on any surface. The noise may be the front axle trying to engage or the pump inside the Tcase may be running dry till it's moved a bit. (chain may be so stretched that it is about to dig through the case too) At 04:12 PM 26/01/2005, you wrote: A: I assume you mean NP207 or NP229? I'm going with a NP208J in my Comanche if my wife decides to just keep the Subaru. No it is definitely a 209,I had it on the hoist and double checked. It has the part time 4X4 and then you full time crap ect. The noise is only apparent when the car has been idle for some time. It is a heavy knock almost like the sound of a tooth missing from a crown wheel, but after a minute a 2 it just disappears. I noticed it first on the hoist rotating the wheel was a clunk clunk and I thought I had better look into it after the engine work was done. Car is running great now with that one exception. Lots of people on the AMC_list have rewired them to take an aftermarket (Radio Shack) part to make them more accurate. I'm pretty sure there is a crude mechanical voltage regulator somewhere for the thermal gauges (oil pressure, fule, temp). If it fails, these three gauges will also fail. I'm not sure where it is located on an FSJ. On most vehicles they are locaed in a small can attached to the back of the instrument cluster. These crude regulators are a common soure of problems. - -brad - --- DRIVEIN59-at-aol.com wrote: > Connector was pulled off pushed back on, nothing. > No mice here, build it right the first time?? That would not only have your security code to allow the car to start, it would even have your custom fuel map. So the car couldn't even be hotwired; it would need that fuel map to even run. And then you could make a valet key, too; I realize those are already around and limit the driving range, but this would even let you limit the revs and other stuff. Could also store a million other preferences, like radio stations (or have your music on it, of course), seat settings, gauge color on the Mustangs, temp settings, etc. And of course the technology's already there; they just need to make an ECU like that. Of course, then viruses could steal your car key when you plug it into an infected computer. And the oil companies would probably write viruses to screw up your fuel map and make your car less efficient. ;) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dogs have owners; cats have staff. - -------------- Dan Black ------------------------- dan-at-black.org -------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2005 09:35:55 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: http://www.extreme4x4s.com/ http://www.extreme4x4s.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2005 16:02:26 -0500 From: "Neal Hoover" Subject: fsj: Re: replacement body bushings welp, i spoke with the folks you suggested today, and they only have poly bushing kits. i'm hoping to find some rubber bushings to cut down on as many road vibes as i can. the only problem there is that i can't find them anywhere besides the dealer. and the stealer wants $65 a pop for EACH MOUNT!!! no way i'm paying almost $400 for body mount bushings. still searching.....
