Also according to the manual: For 3 speed trannies 2 WD J-100 4200-4500 GVW T-86 or optional T-86E J-300 7600 GVW T-89 4 WD J-200/300 up to 5600 GVW T-90 J-200/300 6600-7600 GVW T-89 There was an optional 4 speed, T-98A available on all j-trucks. There is no mention of which tranny might have been used with the 8600 GVW trucks. I have some old factory brochures showing the 4sp on the 8,600lb trucks (and the TH400 on the chassis mounted camper trucks), but evidently the '62-'64 parts manual has additional listings and the T-89 may well have been used. I'll check and see if it lists other tranny options. Fast forward several hours: Ok, I checked the parts book. To my surprise I did find a list sort of like what you want. It indicates the following transmissions were use with the 230 OHC engine.
