A: It's a combination of diluting the mix and adding oxygen so the stock cat can "ignite" to burn the extra HCs. Aftermarket non-aerobic ones are better as they don't need that AIR system. It's too rich by a pretty huge margin. Does the air pump lean out the mixture that much, if it's working? How old is your cat? Throttle position sensor? Speed sensor? Wondering what it would take to modify it so that it'd work with the OM617 3.0L Turbo Diesel. First thing is to get an adapter ring to mate them together. Then making sure the torque converter will work. I could use a manual switch to control the transmission, that's already been figured out. Four solenoids on the AW4. Anyone played around with making an A-D converter off the TPS & a speed sensor to make this thing work? I'll work up some schematics later... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Mar 2005 07:53:07 -0800 From: "Jim Blair" Subject: fsj: Re: adapting a Diesel to an AW4 A: COnverter mods can be done by SeaTac trans. It needs TVS cable and a TPS for auto. On the Renix rigs it's a 2 piece unit (2 sensors in one switch), but HO are all in one. As for the shifter, Frank Swygert has already done that with an AW4 in his Rambler.
